Today my fiance and i wondered down to the Desert Hills Pool in GV to take a dip, swim a few laps and enjoy the sunshine.
We are paid members and haven't been able to use any of the gym facilities except for the use of the pool today on August 1, 2020.
The gvr custodian staff appointed to that facility went around harrassing swimmers, including us for not social distancing, even though we were apart, making it very unwelcoming and uncomfortable, so we left. GVR doesnt need this type of behavior, especially from it's staff..

Great recreation facilities. All homeowners in Green Valley, AZ are eligible to join. There is an initiation fee ~$2800 and $510 per year maintenance fee, but well worth it if one uses the facilities.

Required membership dues for 2022 were $505.00. If you are physically active (swimming, pickle ball, gym) it’s probably worth the money. I’m a member of the Camera Club, which I love. But for the $505.00, I think it’s ridiculous for clubs to charge additional membership fees to keep afloat. I was also an original member of the GVR Singles Club but haven’t felt safe enough to attend because GVR, in this Senior living town, doesn’t see fit to mandate masks for indoor events. This is so discouraged and disappointing. There’s a reason I belonged to that particular club: because I am single and frequently pretty lonely these days. I expressed my frustration to the GVR staff, hoping it would make it to the CEO and Board of Directors. The Board chose to make mask wearing (and physical distancing) optional.

The Board of Directors are a completely dysfunctional group of individuals. They’re bullies, lack any kind of transparency and refuse to let the CEO do his job. Green Valley Recreation is a joke.

Dues are charged based on property ownership. A household compromised of more than one person pays the same amount in dues as a household of one. Each member of that larger household has the same access as those of us who live alone. They pay $505.00 and I pay $505.00.

GVR also offers classes like Spanish or Zumba or art, etc. But those aren’t included in your annual dues. You must pay extra (to pay the instructor). The instructor sets the fee.

I might feel differently if costs were fair and the organization was managed at any level of competence. But the operation, from top to bottom, fails to meet the needs of every member of our community.

GVR was one of the reasons we moved here. Once you buy in, it's a very affordable with a yearly fee of $500. The facilities are excellent!

This has been a frustrating year with Covid-19, closure of the East Center Pool and a lot of restrictions at several of the centers. However, once we get through this pandemic, restrictions lifted and a upgraded to a larger pool at the East Center, many folks will be a lot happier. Looking forward to using the facilities in the near future.

Tried out West Center pool today. Never going back. Terrible for walkers too much slant. No force from the jets in the jacuzzi. Top step in pool and spa too high. Poor showers. No benches to sit while dressing. Seems to be a great pool for Lap swimmers and young children

The GVR facilities management staff should be fired for incompetence. On 4.3.19, extensive work on Madera Vista rec center was started at 3:30 a.m. There were multiple cement trucks and other loud vehicles with lots of bright lights and beeping. This went on for hours. Whoever approved this plan should be fired. There was no consideration for the residents who live next to the center. GVR decisions are made by a select few. Do not buy residences that require a GVR membership.
