I have worked with and donated to the Gilead House for many years now. They have helped so many moms and kids get on their feet and move forward in life. Every time I go to the facility it is clean and maintained properly. Seeing the work that they are doing is so very needed for the future of the families they support. If you are looking for a local nonprofit to support, please look at Gilead House in Novato.

I lived at Gilead house after escaping my abusive husband with my baby. They kicked me out because they didn't think I cleaned the kitchen well enough.
I had no other choice but to move back in with him. It was not good. Thank God I eventually got out because of HOMEWARD BOUND.

The Gilead House has been a member of the Novato Chamber for YEARS. They not only offer beds for their clients, but they also offer job and life-skills training. As a business organization in town, we love supporting Gilead House, they help their 'moms' find stable work within this community.

I was a Black family that lived at Gilead house and my experience was horrible. I had two children with me at the time and we were put out on the streets with no where to go and it has been a experience that i will never forget. Gilead house was not understanding or empathetic towards me or my family. I did not stay there long I was put out for no reason the program at the time was ran by Susan Sweet and she was absolutely out of touch with reality. I have only one thing to recommend to Gilead house that they hire and employ people of color to work there that know and understands how to relate to other people of color.

I am a refugee from Ukraine with a 6 year old daughter. Through volunteers, we were settled in Giliad House - where I had to go through real HELL!!! This is the scariest experience of my life! In Giliad House itself, for almost 3 weeks of our stay there, my daughter and I faced: aggression, humiliation, contempt, insult. My 6-year-old child was called names and even pushed at Giliad House (I even had to wait for the police at 11 at night on the street). After this incident, we were actually kicked out on the street without further help to find another place for us! I was intimidated and threatened so that I would not carry our terrible story to the masses !!! The director of Giliad House did not provide us with other accommodation and ignored our requests for any help.

I lived at Gilead house years ago with my 2 kids. This place saved my life. I now have my dream job, live an amazing life but most importantly have the tools to navigate through life successfully. I am so very greatful for this place.

It is hard to rate this place because of the reason that we were there. We came in with a group to do repairs and improvements on an empty facility.
I can say that the people that we worked with, who were affiliated with Giliad house, were very concerned about the families that would live there when we were done and how what we were doing would impact their lives.
They appear to be very caring and having only the best interests of the families in mind.
