The first of its kind and in Fresno, CA. The whole concept of putting all the essential stops into one shop and placing it in the highest area of need in the city makes it easier for individuals experiencing life crisis to gain a footing on solid ground and since transportation and wait times are often a challenge for individuals and families needing assistance. There are multiple service providers on campus with access to eduction healthcare legal spiritual support including reentry services, family supportive services, case management, social services applications and assistance, recovery referrals, female empowerment, hygiene support and childcare, in addition to the world’s first of its kind free food market featuring fresh foods such as fruits and veggies, organics, non perishable and perishable foods, with donations from local distributors like POM Wonderful, Starbucks, Good Earth, Foster Farms, and Kind, to name a few. This helps contribute to what I can only say a person that feels less than their best self a little more whole and helps the inner human in us feel nurtured nourished and needed because it is a community effort and where one pays it forward is in the thanks of giving. Often patrons become volunteers and we counter the negative cycle of poverty with a good positive impact in our community. At city center in collaboration with the Fresno Rescue Mission the vision is a reality and these embarks our rural Central San Joaquin Valley one of a kind, where “One human helping another human for the greater good of human kind, we rise together.”

The people here are very helpful, extremely nice, and this day my first time here extremely apologetic as they explained that they ran out of tickets for the first time ever.
You have to line up early in the morning at 5 or 6 am to wait for a ticket and that will be a designated time for you to come back and shop for your groceries. It’s a very good way to ensure a good process and foods that you will eat or can eat instead of just getting a pre done bag full. I cannot due to allergies eat certain foods so this process was told to me and I figured to try it out. I will come back next time knowing better how to participate.

Was very disappointed on the quality of the fresh vegies and fruits they were in very poor condition, mushy & half rotten. Some of the shelf items expired a few months back. I had gotten a nut mixed & as soon as I opened it, you could smell the bald moldy smell. I get that it's all free, but I did not expect months back expired food. The meats seem to be a good choice, though. I gave it 2 stars because they do have great customer service and are very helpful to explain how everything goes on your first visit. And a top notch on not letting people just cut in line while everyone waits their turn.

I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to ALL THE STAFF that made these food items available to me. I’m so “HUMBLY THANKFUL”!

Today was my 2nd trip to First Fruit Market, It pays off big time to be the first group of ten people. I actually arrived at 10:45pm Thursday Night and slept in my car. I met the most amazing family that was infront of me!
They educated me about the rules of establishing your place in line…their knowledge was a blessing for me and my safety as well so THANK YOU FAMILY!

I was able to get so many varieties of veggies: fresh ->sweet potatoes, zucchini, red onion, green bell pepper, spinach, salad mixes/kits, huge bag of Brussels Sprouts, Roma Tomatoes, 3 different varieties of mushrooms
fruits: fresh-> orange juice, apple slices, oranges, nectarines, red raspberries
Protein: large package of chicken breast
Dairy: big container of cottage cheese and yogurt
Staples: tomato past, whole wheat thin slices bread, cereal

I was referred to First Fruit Market by my VA Nutritionist due to being put on an AntiInflammation Diet after being diagnosed with R.A. I need to avoid processed foods as much as possible and eat more fresh produce: veggies & fruit and chicken, fish, high protein items. This market checked all the boxes.

Again thanks to you all!

There is a limit on the amount of food you can get, and about half of the food is expired. However, they do have medium bottles of water.
