Liz seems like a nice and knowledgeable person. That said, landlords who have followed the rules shouldn’t be pressured into doing more than required by law, especially for poorly behaved tenants. Further, the organization really needs to confirm that the tenant has followed all the rules, including not having people living in a unit who are not on the lease, as that’s an evictable condition with 3 days to rectify.

The foundation suggested a good compromise would be to give back a tenants deposit BEFORE they vacate or clean, in addition to their free month of rent. In the end, the tenants did not clean at all and caused enough damages that only 20% of their deposit was returned. I assure this foundation wouldn’t help a landlord with collecting damages if the shoe was reversed, instead referring to small claims court.

I agree that this is a fair and needed resource for terrible landlords who do not follow the laws, rules and recommended guidelines. However, this organization needs to stop blaming landlords for ‘retaliation’ for every single thing. The cost of living goes up, so does rent, sometimes a property will no longer be a rental. They should also recognize tenant retaliation even after being treated fairly and told so.

The lady that I spoke didn’t care to help or find a solution or advice me .She had an attitude and was rude and didn’t help at all she basically said you have no rights at all . You will get evicted 3 day notice. Simply you have no rights at all.

was recommended to call this number because dealing with mold in my apartment. it seems like they are only interested in collecting biographic data such as birthday, name, address, etc because she wouldn’t give me information about how they actually help or what they do without this information from me. then after giving her all my information the advice i received from her was “you should find an attorney who would take your case”. no help in finding an attorney, resources to pay for the attorney, etc. no help in finding somewhere else to live or how to get out of the situation. i still don’t actually know what this organization does other than collect data.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. The representative I spoke to was absolutely rude. They don't know what customer service is. Every question I had was dismissed. I was cut off everytime I had a question. The representative never provided me with advice or how to proceed with my case.

I have been calling & leaving messages since May. As I am writing this review it is July 2019. Still NO RESPONSE! I know they are busy but this is ridiculous! It is very urgent that I talk to Fair Housing, but how can I when they do not call you back. What is the use of having organizations like Fair Housing that is suppose to help the people and do nothing. Sadly, I have found that most of these organizations like this are utterly useless & we the people suffer.

I have called here for issues in Anaheim since their branch in Santa Ana California doesn't handle that area. In the past I have been told, "if you don't like it move." To them I ask: "Where? Got some magic place that's less expensive and treats me like a human being?"

Not sure this agency even exists.

I spoke with ADRIENNE IN 2018 AND SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. With what I was enduring with my former "slumlords", when I explained my situation, SHE KNEW WHAT THESE OWNERS AND MANAGERS WERE ABOUT TO DO BEFORE THEY DID IT , AND SHE PREPARED ME THE BEST SHE COULD. SHE UPHELD HER DUE DILIGENCE AND IM SO GRATEFUL FOR HER. I WANT HER TO KNOW SHE REALLY MADE ME FEEL SUPPORTED during that DARK EXPERIENCE. IVE NEVER WENT THRU ANYTHING LIKE A BAD HOUSING SITUATION with So many HEALTH AND SAFETY VIOLATIONS BEFORE IN MY LIFE. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT KIND OF THING Even EXIST. BUT ITS REALLY REAL.

The agent who called me was exceptionally rude from the beginning of our call and she claimed the other Fair Housing office gave me bad information. I got no where. Very disappointing.
