Amazing place! Within a couple days of submitting my application I was contacted by Cora. She walked me and boyfriend through the whole process. At our appointment at the shelter she introduced us to all the available rabbits, suggesting one in particular for us (whom we did wind up adopting and she's an amazing bun!). She covered all the basics of rabbit care; we're first time owners, and even gave us the card to a local rabbit savvy vet in our area. We were given about a week to collect all the supplies we needed. Cora even emailed me some links to items she recommended that weren't expensive at all.

We did a virtual home visit, which is just a facetime call so they can see we have everything we need (cage/pen, hay, litterbox, bowls, toys, first aid 'kit' of critical care, baby gas drops, syringes) She met us at a pet store by us, we're an hour drive from the rescue, for the adoption and had us practice handling our new rabbit as well as showing us how to safely install the carrier in my car. Absolutely an amazing experience!

As for the adoption fee one reviewer here gave one star for and called the shelter a "scam", which it certainly is not a scam...the adoption for a single rabbit IS $50. However, I can see their confusion as when you do it, it's through a third party link, and the link by default adds a donation to the shelter, but you do have the option of changing the donation amount or removing it all together. We did not. We chose to donate $25 on top of the fee. The rabbits are incredibly well taken care of and considering it costs about $60 to buy a rabbit at a store and an additional $150-$300 to get it spayed/neutered, $50 for a rabbit already fixed (and litter trained!) is a hell of a bargain actually.

So much for a “rescue” place. Very unprofessional, If I could give this place zero stars I would. Didn’t ask me where I resided at they assumed I’m from Delaware because of my area code which does not mean a thing. They said and I quote “our priority is our region” basically saying the animal is not a priority at all given the situation it is in, and your surrender inquiry says only takes surrenders from Maryland and Delaware so now their information on their website is false and needs to be changed. Not saying that they did anything wrong but if a rabbit that was locked in a dog cage with barely any food and water nails so long they’re curled up and could barely walk hair matted so bad it is dreaded up severely… if that isn’t a main priority then I don’t know what is. Don’t try and justify the situation because I gave you a bad review.

I’ve adopted four rabbits from ESRREC starting the adoption of my fist 2 rabbits in 2015. My first 2 rabbits were strays that were reported to, and captured, by ESRREC. After seeing the work ESRREC does, the community outreach, medical care and advocacy for domestic rabbits I became a volunteer. Last year I adopted 2 additional rabbits that were each owner surrenders. Every rabbit taken in by ESRREC is vet checked by an experienced, rabbit savvy vet. Any medical conditions or needs are treated by the vet and all medical services including medications are paid for by ESRREC.

This place is a scam. The only people leaving reviews are "volunteers" and they ask you to pay a fee to surrender your animal and if u don't they won't take your animals. Then they sell or "adopt" out your animal for $100. They claim it is only $50 but then when u got to get one they charge you for $100. My friend emailed them about surrendering a rabbit and asked if they could excuse the surrendering fee n they told her word for word "go drop your rabbits outside of your local shelter if u can't pay the fee". Do not give them your rabbits

I have been volunteering with this rescue for a few years. Everyone is so passionate about helping rabbits. It is a small rescue so they have our limits, but I’ve seen them time and again go above and beyond.
