I don’t even write negative reviews lol, this will be my 1st one ever! Worse experience ever! They welcome u with FAKE LOVE and the moment u enter the program they treat u like a homeless experiment. The organization lacks integrity, the staff does not have the heart to deal with the caliber of people who enter the program. They sit back and watch families go to war with each and pick sides. My children were so unhappy while staying at Door of Hope. I felt like I was being initiated into a cult. They expect everyone to think and act alike which is absurd! All they did was dictate, My children and I slowly began to feel like prisoners. My oldest daughter started acting out of character, my youngest children felt alienated, therefore their behavior started declining. If it wasn’t for my faith, strength, confidence, courage , and positive outlook on life I would not have made it out of my situation. I would like to thank Door of Hope for providing my children and I with room and board and also furnishing my children with beds after leaving. For that we our greatful!

I hope this place has changed and improved since I was there in 2009. The experience was a great learning one how so many people can be so deceitful regarding appearances not everyone is who they appeared to be. God had great judgment on that place and dissatisfaction when I was there so many horrible things were happening. But God is so good ever since I left he's been blessing my family ever since! Thanks to those staff who's spirit was accurate..and to those staff who's spirit was very foul specially those in high positions (you know who you are) I truly hope you repent and correct yourselves because anything using gods name for their agenda shall be judged.

So I was so happy to get excepted to this transitional. At the time I was six months pregnant and I had an eight-year-old and a three-year-old. I only stayed here for three days and I had to leave. The first day we got there we were trying to get settled I was bringing things in but not everything because of my pregnancy. But I am mediately start cleaning because it was really dirty. The apartment was a one bedroom one bath very spacious and also infested. I started to clean the bathroom and the kitchen first and when I open up the refrigerator it was baby roaches and pregnant roaches dead inside the refrigerator. It blew my mind that they didn’t even bother to clean up the place before me and my family moved in knowing that I was pregnant. When I spoke with someone regarding bomb The Place they said that I couldn’t because it was going to mess up their process Of eliminating the infestation. My three-year-old son ate at the kitchen table with his feet on the chair scared. I decided even though my scare children didn’t know anything about roaches I know of them and I know that I am a clean person and as long as I spray and stay clean they will go away. The next day my kids woke up with bites all over them and that’s when I decided that I had to leave because although I made a decision to stay and try to get rid of the roaches there area was no way I was going to stay and allow me and my kids or bring my newborn baby into an infested house that’s infested with roaches and bedbugs and dust mites. I feel that it’s very unfortunate that the people that comes to these transitional need help and need the assistance so bad that some people would just stay there and take it but I can put my kids through that or anything else in that sort or bring a baby into this type of life and it’s sad that some women don’t have the courage to start over and make a stand and talk about these things. ☮️? and good luck to you all.

Our church (Hill Avenue Grace Lutheran) contributes to Door of Hope's missions at Christmas. We are interested in, impressed by, and supportive of, their programs to aid the homeless. They help homeless families transition from the streets into permanent and stable housing.

A Christian non-profit dedicated to helping homeless families that goes beyond "putting a roof over heads", as most HUD programs do. Door of Hope has a high success rate in working to equip families with skills (life, financial, parenting, etc) and give support so that families leave stronger.

Not very helpful tried to separate my wife and I repeatedly.not as accommodating as said. not all staff are bad but the others hide behind religion an bureaucratic bs.they run off donations but the house you stay in is falling apart and the money doesn't seem to benefit the residents they are "trying" to help out of the 7 families that we encountered there only 1 graduated the program(and they are struggling) everyone else left with nowhere to go.

This place is been by far the worst experience I have ever had I wouldn’t recommend anyone who’s interested in this place to try and get in there if you’re trying to get your life together these people try to say that they help you by finding housing they say that they help you the best way possible I can tell you right now the only thing that they will help you with is a roof over your head you must already have your own goals and plans once you move in there because those people have nothing to offer also you must also have your own money and you don’t need to tell them about It because what they want to do is they want you to download an app that Will have them Mirror your bank account so they can keep track of all transactions going on inside of your bank account what type of program does that ?then let you know how nosy these people are thank God for My Husband knowing children services because these people here try to call children services on us a couple of weeks after being here they hide behind religion and make it seem like their righteousness make it seem like they’re fair there can be a family in there that you’re not really getting along with and the children can be caught in the middle let’s just say you don’t get along with another family there and the children decide they don’t want to get along as well let’s just say that that other families child decides to attack your children they will do nothing about it in fact they will blame you and that other family just for that happening to make it look like they’re doing something right even if they have video cameras they will still blame you when you did nothing the whole time but defend your child these people they only do this for a check and they have meal donors come in there every day just to keep from buying food they are lazy they want each family to spend their own food stamps and go grocery shopping for the house so let’s just say if one family decides to eat up all the food that’s not their problem you just have to do with the old food that they have in the freezer that’s been sitting there for six or seven or eight months and you have to eat that and they allow you options of either eating the old food or any of the old bread that’s in the house all that stuff is outdated they have a Trader Joe’s that comes there on Wednesdays that would bring you all All of the old food that nobody would want to buy in the store so they give it to you like you’re nothing now can you imagine if they are not able to sell these things in the store why would they give it to someone else thinking that we want those products just because of Trader Joe’s like we’re stupid or somethingWhen you bring outside food in say for Example if you’re using your own money to buy food they will try and write you up and say that it’s against their policy and whatever you bye and you put in the freezer or the refrigerator they will tell you that it belongs to the whole house even though you bought it for your family only talk about unfairness they going to use 70 to 80% of your food stamps so let’s just say if you only get $200 and you and your family only like eating selected things that you might not want to share with everybody they will say that you have to share the food stamps with the whole house this is their way of not having to spend money on their own program and if you don’t comply with giving your EBT card up they look at you like you’re the bad person and will cost you write ups after write ups and the next thing you know it would lead to termination these people have been making me and my husband and my children very uncomfortable since we have been Here I am currently here right now so this is not someone who is just talking I’m actually in the program now if you plan on having some privacy in your life and you want your home to stay together your family to stay together I would not recommend door of hope to anyone who is self-sufficient and independent some people just need a steppingstone to get where they need to be and that’s fine you can take that risk
