This place will have a lawsuit against them from me, Already in the works! So redundant how “someone” reports I give my children Melatonin to help my son sleep & as soon as a social worker contacts me I provide them with the doctors note where it clearly says the doctor told us to try melatonin under her care, But yet they are still trying to push to come to my house, meet my kids, ask me to provide a “2 references” for my parenting & on top of that made me go get my daughter who DOES NOT take melatonin from 3 hours away where she was staying with her grandma for a few weeks for the summer and then said that a supervisor would have to come see my house and meet with me as well THIS IS RIDICULOUS! Over melatonin that my child’s doctor recommended & on top of that HAD A DOCTORS NOT FOR IT! Not to mention my child is 3 years old all children’s melatonin containers say (for ages 3+) they still have yet to close the case over melatonin & I am currently speaking with a lawsuit attorney to get it started because this is ridiculous!

The employees are 👍.
They work with you and are thorough. They usually provide ya with a lot of good information. In my own experiences, they usually offer up info that normally I would not have thought about asking about. May it's just the general laid back attitude & friendliness of the OBX locals bc the ppl really are nice everywhere. They do practice social distancing by having u sit across from the check-in desk in a private booth with a designated desk telephone for u to talk to them through. It's not very private tho bc it's just a portable "wall" partition separating u from the other desk. Plus, ur in the same room as the other people waiting to be helped. Thankfully, I was the only person there to be helped. If there would have been anyone else in there waiting, or being interviewed at the desk beside me with only a mobile partition there.....I would not feel any privacy. It's been a few months and maybe the privacy has been improved by now. I hope so. Otherwise, it very nice, clean, and they treat ppl with respect. I'm saying that bc when times get tough and u aren't used to asking for help, they seem to make the process go by easier by not passing judgement and leaving that to uppers who go through & evaluate ur application. Personally speaking, it is hard going in and asking strangers for help and having to present and documented all ur worth. It's not an everyday experience, especially for those of us who very independent and used to being the one helping others in need. Just saying they understand and make it go easy as possible for u.

Parking is 👎
I find it very difficult to find a parking space near the entrance, much less the whole building bc there are always cars parked everywhere. Besides the very limited handicapped parking close to the building, it seems like 99% of first row parking is pre-assigned to social services employees. I think it's okay to assign an EOM a temp privilidged parking spot. Like most establishments do, they instruct the rest of their employees to park in the further most spaces as 1 - a convenience for visitors to park closer, and, 2 - walk for the exercise. During my visit, as far as I know, I was the only social services visitor there. I paid attention and they wasn't anyone else using social services but myself. With the shortage of employees due to Covid19, I seriously doubt that there were others being helped, plus it was
dead quiet in the whole place. I could not justify why the entire parking lot was slammed full, unless the second bldg further down, the Health Dept, was hopping busy, but, I didn't see a soul anywhere. Advice: if on ur first pass u can't find a parking spot, then, just head towards the southern most parking lot over on the same end as the Island Pharmacy. I wanted to say this bc it's been stupid like this for a very long, long, long time. It's even slim pickings for those w/a handicapped parking tag/placard. They need to find a way to provide more parking bc it's truly ridiculous to deal with every time u need to go, esp for the young moms with little children. Good luck.

Depending on who helps you, this is a great place to go if like many, needing assistance. There can be a lengthy wait, but call ahead..and you can go on a better day, Monday's I wouldn't recommend, and later in day is always slower...as any place, there is those who will treat you with full respect, and helpfulness. .as well as there is some who may be lacking. Still all in all, they do their best to accommodate the needs of the community.

CPS and APS violate statutes and due process. They get away with it because of immunity like cops and other govt agents who violate statutes and Constitutonal rights. Call them on it and they retaliate. The best and most supportive agent retired and the young criminals took over..the cruelest and most insincere power-hungry people I have ever encounterd. Some should be in jail. CPS in this county and others in NC should be shut down. Ncdhhs oversight is a sick joke.
