I first joined their Learn to Row program as a total beginner last year. I had amazing training with their coaches over 3 weekends.

Thanks to their ongoing coaching, I now row with their Masters crew several times a week. I’ve completed 3 races and looking forward to the upcoming season!

It’s a very friendly group of people with all ages and skill levels welcome.

I started rowing in October 2024 and it’s been the most amazing experience. The coaches are amazing. Super knowledgeable and helpful. The members are also pretty spectacular. It’s an amazing community and I’m glad I joined them.

I took a few “Learn to Row” sessions during the past year and enjoyed it immensely! For a first time rower, I thoroughly enjoyed the coaches’ skills and enthusiasm. Because the staff was so helpful and friendly, I joined their Masters Rowing Team. Learning to row even better, I competed in a couple rowing competitions. So I would highly recommend CRSD to all rowers-no matter their ability level!

I had never rowed before and tried it out at CRSD. The coaches are amazing; their knowledge and enthusiasm, how they meet everyone at their skill level and encourage us to continue and get better. It's so calming and joyful starting out the day on the water. Indoor-rowing is also available. I highly recommend CRSD to anyone who would like to learn to row.

Wonderful place to learn how to row on the water. Dedicated coaches committed to sharing their love of the sport and the friendly people create a warm community to come to every weekend. Rowing on the calm waters is the best way to spend a weekend morning.

This organization is at the heart of rowing. Rowing shouldn't be the snooty, elitist, upper crusty, old school mens clubby sport most people think of it as. If it is some places, it certainly isn't that at CRSD. These are people who love the sport: exercise, fresh air out on the water, and lots and lots of good camaraderie among a very diverse and interesting group. I was welcomed immediately and have made friends right away. Every time I'm there I see others getting the same warm welcome. Don't expect learning to row to be easy; it's scary hard. Like swinging a golf club or baseball bat, it is deceptively simple but beastly hard. That said, there's no better place to learn and practice. But be warned: Rowing is addictive and other rowers are enablers! Drop in and check it out. I bet you love it!

Nobody is too old to learn a new sport, or so I told myself after watching teenagers compete at the Crew Classic San Diego last Spring. The goal of competing at least once was born that day. I was met by wonderfully supportive coaches who take the time to instruct water safety and technicalities of rowing over and over to anxious adults that have grown to distrust their intuition and bodies. I love the welcoming atmosphere at CRSD, seemingly endless patience of coaches, team spirit in fellow rowers of all levels, and most of all the calming time in nature on the water combined with a great work out.
