This is an update for people looking for the free tax preperation

I wasn't able to get through and reach anyone after waiting over 1 hr to have someone pick up the phone. The state website lists the locations times and dates they should be doing tax prep but the riv county vita page does not list anything. I just spoke to a library in riverside that is supposed to have the vita tax people in there today and vita never showed for a 2nd week. I have only been told to keep trying everyday.

Typical local government services: No greeter, just sigh in and sit down. They are attempting to provide too many services for which most staff are not capable to provide. Appointment time for specific tasks are not observed. Too more than 50 minutes to complete a 5 minute task/pick up assigned/reserved items

Went in to get help with a bill since my electricity was shut off. I signed in waiting to be called. I realized everyone who came in after me was being helped. So I got up and looked at the sign in sheet. They marked I had been helped. So I signed my name again. Waited patiently for my name to be called. No luck. So I went to the window and asked for an application. I told the lady I hadn’t been helped yet. She asked if I went outside. I told her I’ve been sitting here waiting and no one called my name. What happened was she went to the clipboard a black lady walked up and she assumed she was me!! Smh I have never felt so bothered in my life.

Always 1 clerk being rude or nasty when I come here for help with my bills. My check stub was a few days off from what their calendar said,I said the new stub is probably at my house with new mail now. I was told to bring it back before 5 or mail it with the envelope given. I had to mail it,5 days later I was sent a form to fill out about my dead husbands bank account. I sent the form back with his death certificate,3 days later I got a call asking me the same thing the form said. I told her my husband passed, she didn't understand until I said DEAD!! Once she understood she said they couldn't help me cause I didn't qualify.. I excepted that and hung up,meanwhile my gas, lights and water was paid in full with credit for 2 more months by THEM!!! Yes I said they paid all my bills but mean old nasty lady telling me I don't qualify..Go to them anyway, they may help you too...

They honestly made us feel like we were the only applicants.... I swear I am so impressed! With our electricity shut off, a $3,000 bill and from what we heard; over 300 email applications per day....the 4 to 6 week waiting period was what we were expecting. That was not the case at all. Besides our case worker named Natalie(who was amazing by the way)being so prompt and responsive, it was only a matter of less than 24 hours after we submitted every document they asked for that we were approved and up and running again. We litterally were treated and dealt with as a priority and are just blown away at their whole program.
Thank you to everyone involved in this wonderful organization. My best friend and her 13 year old daughter were in tears and truly thankful for the help we needed.
Thank you Natalie, you are amazing and are so appreciated you have no idea.
