I went to Coastal Turning Point’s PHP and IOP program after my 2 psychiatric hospitalizations because I was having a 5 month long Bipolar Depression with psychosis episode. This program greatly supported me and helped improved my mental health! The group therapy helped me gain a lot of new coping skills and helped me understand how to use mindfulness and other strategies to manage my symptoms. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because A few months into treatment I was extremely suicidal and depressed. My individual therapist Lydia decided that I needed a higher level of care and contacted my psychiatrist without my knowledge or permission to set the plans into motion. This was done behind my back. I found out what was going on by an email she sent me and my psychiatrist texting me to let me know he was in favor of my IOP therapists plan to transfer my care to a Residential Treatment Program! I wasn’t asked what my opinion was or asked what I thought I needed. It was just planned without me being involved. This triggered my PTSD really bad and my trust issues. I almost left the IOP because of this. Thankfully I decided to stick it out and talk with Lydia to let her know what she did triggered me and that I needed to be involved in my treatment. She apologized and agreed to do so moving forward. They let me stay and continue to attend the IOP instead of sending me away. We were able to work through it and I was able to rebuild trust with her again. Overall this is a very good program and it helped me a lot!

Awful experience with these people. They violated numerous principals laid out by The American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists Code of Conduct. Unfortunately as is to often the case any sense of altruism is sorely lacking with profit being the sole driving principle behind their motivations. I understand a buisness needs to make money but in the case of medical or mental help I would hope that individuals going into such a field did so out of a genuine desire to help people rather then make a quick buck off of them.
