Genuinely hope they treat the animals better than they do the people walking in there. I found a stray/lost/abandoned animal. I spent a good amount of time with him (I have two other rescues, and could not hold on to this one). During the time I spent with the dog, I obviously started to care. So I was asking questions about if he doesn't get adopted(if it comes to that point), because I want to help, in any way I can, and would try and figure something out to save an animals life.

I dropped him off, and as I was going to my vehicle I get confronted by the woman at the front desk. Basically treating me like a criminal, with her stating it was my dog, and if I "didn't come clean" I would be charged with abandonment. I was pretty upset at the whole thing. I literally just want the best for an animal.

The Lady at the front desk was absolutely terrible, I found a lost/ abandoned female pitbull who seemed to be pregnant or possibly had puppies somewhere, as the dog lover I am , I tried to take her in for some possible help and instead got accused that it was my dog and I was trying to abandon her… instead of referring me to another shelter who could possibly take her in she told me to put her back on the streets where I found her. Absolutely terrible!!!

Just adopted this little cutie, and had a great experience!

Our officer was helpful, gave us plenty of time with the dog on our own.

He was neutered at a clinic Tracy, which is super convenient. They also will add on any services at the same time...never been able to do that before 😊

So far he's a wonderful companion who loves everybody. Can't thank the shelter enough for saving so many animals❤️

13 years ago I walked into the shelter at the old location and fell in love with Molly and told the Officer (Cindy) to write her up and I'd be back at 3:30pm to pick her up, no muss no fuss. At the time she was approx 5 months old and has been the best companion ever. Manteca, if you're getting this, Thank You. And if you ever receive another Aussie that needs rescuing please give me a call.

Adopted 3 Huskies from this Shelter in the last 4 month to free up space for more dogs coming in every day. There is very limited staff on duty. Have friends donating their free time, products & money to help. Also, going to the City Council Meetings to improve conditions, add space & resources. For all of you complaining, do some research before making such negative statements. Only 2 officers on duty in a growing town. Go help. Since my friends have been involved, many positive changes are happening; however, still need help. Go take the dog out of kennel & take him for a walk, some dogs are going crazy in the cage. Clean up the kennels. Be proactive. They need help. Also, many people try to surrender animals from out of Manteca to a shelter with no space. Not allowed. And shame on folks who dump their dogs on the streets, fields etc... should be prosecuted. Show kindness by helping.

Asked for help with 90 lb german sheppard mix. They basically told me go away wr have no place for her. Hope rude these people are when a person is in desperate need. They should not be working with animals or adults

A friend of mine was on his way to work and found a Dog that was in bad shape so he took the time to take the Dog to the Manteca Animal Shelter where they accused him of being the owner and responsible for the condition of the Dog. He tried to explain that the Dog wasn’t his but these 3- Employees didn’t believe him and one of these employees felt she had the need and right to yell at him. I understand that people do drop their Pets off that are responsible for the condition of their pet but not everyone does that. I can’t imagine being accused of that. My friend was devastated . I personally feel that these women should be Reprimanded for their behavior and lack of professionalism. I been to Manteca Shelter and I wasn’t impressed.

At the time I had read numerous stories of people trapping and dumping cats. I had taken in a cat, I thought had been dumped in my neighborhood, to be scanned for a chip. The cat was chipped. Rather than tell me it belonged to a neighbor and let me take it back they kept it and charged the owner to pick it up. They reprimanded me by telling me that cats are free roaming and I should have left it alone.
