Received $50 in financial assistance about 5 years ago for heating oil. Found ourselves in a financial bind recently and called to see if they could help again. Mr. Sears was extremely rude on the phone to my wife. Apparently you can only receive monetary assistance once without financial counseling which is fine. You can say "no" without belittling people or being a smartass. Nice is free and costs them nothing. I agree with the other posters on here, the really need to take "Christian" out of their name. I'm glad my God sees and hears everything.

This organization has the potential to be genuinely helpful, but it’s very unfortunate how it is run. If you call for financial assistance John most likely will call back.
A very unhappy individual. He’s very impolite and afflicted. There’s a demon attached to him whose intent is to cause wrath. The Bible speaks against people like him.
I hope he received the help he needs truly.

The man who called me "Mr.Sears" was extremely rude and basically ridiculed my family for needing help this yr. I got off the phone in tears. He said he normally only likes to help people who need help all year round. I dont normally need help like this so I had no idea how this works. He told me a 10yr old doesnt need Christmas cause they should know how "Christmas works" by now. He asked about everyones employment as well as our living situation. We are basically homeless right now, getting by the best way we can. A few years ago my elderly mother signed up for Christmas help thru here & the presents werent the best quality anyway. We had an upset 7yr old cause the toys were all pretty much one use toys. I understand its the thought that counts & apperciate all you guys do. Theres no way I shoulda felt the way I did after speaking with Mr.Sears. We will never call here and ask for any such help again.

Not to mention he called us 4 times. The first two phone calls we were under the impression we were only signing up for Thanksgiving & we were told to arrive at 6 on Sunday. We then recieved another voicemail and then yesterday evening a call about Christmas help. Although we need all the help we can get we were only asking for Thanksgiving help but since he insisted to talk about Christmas I was gonna sign up my 4yr old son. I wasn't begging for help.. it was offered. The intrusive questions about why we are staying where we are, work & us having transportation I anwsered as honest as possible. He went on to ridicule me for basically being homeless. I wanted to cry but instead I politely told him we didnt need any assistance & God bless. The way I was treated was still heavy on my heart when I woke up today. I hope nobody else is ever treated that way when asking for a little help. I didnt deserve that. Ive never gotten any sort of help before & its for reasons like this.

I hope your volunteers who donate this year think more about quality vs quantity. Nothing worse then the few presents a kid gets Christmas morning breaking right away!

Please do better.

Found this place on google and decided not to call due to the very poor reviews.
If you want to help people, do it because you have it in your heart to do so, NOT so you can be on some high horse and pretend you are better than the rest. Next! 😉

The man I spoke with Jim Sears, was very unprofessional. I was needing help with rent and he was more concerned about my living situation with my roommate and whether he and I were romantically involved. When I message him and told him I would be seeking help from somewhere else because I felt he was out of line all he could say was “That’s for the best”. I’m sorry but I feel that’s not Christian like and this organization could find someone better to help with their outreach program dealing with financial help.
