The Long Beach location staff and management hold a prejudice against Black people. Be very careful when dealing with these individuals. Make sure you have copies of all your paperwork and know exactly who you talk to at what time in writing. This location does not like it when you are organized. I hope the proper people read this message. It would be nice to see a change in their organization. Or maybe their donors would like to know what’s really going on with their money.

After being in the program for a couple of months, my services were taken away from my daughter when I most needed them. This was due to a technical error via email! A couple of days after getting an email for an extension I emailed the program saying I haven't heard back from them and still needed childcare for my family. They told me I can no longer receive financial assistance. I was left in the dark without any warning. I would not recommend the proffessionism of Children's Home Society. I am very dissatisfied with their services!!! As the pandemic continues, I cannot work without child care! I am missing going to work due to children homes society inconvenience! I may loose my home! Think twice before you work with thease people!

While this organization did help us with part of the cost for sending our son to a quality preschool, it still charged us with a significant bill. The program is extremely regulated and as soon as the parents make some more income, this organization increases its bill. For instance, during the two years while my wife was going to college and our total net family income was about $2300, they were charging us $300 for our son's preschool. (During the first year it was $100, then it went up to $300.) This would not let us save money for emergencies. In addition, we think they should base their charges on the family's net income AFTER taxes, not gross income.
