Here from October 2022 - August 2024. If you’re not from this county they don’t really care for you. They will prioritize their counties children first. I’m a foster youth from alameda county and I had benefits that I was supposed to receive, and their staff laughed in my face and did not want to help me. The staff that laughed at me was Lyndsey, a young man and a horrible coach, and Ms. jess who doesn’t work there anymore. Rebecca lied and protected her staff because that’s all she could do. They told me not to judge people from your past experiences, but that’s exactly what they did to me. I had an apartment waiting for me to occupy and they did not want to help me with transportation, instead laughed and said I never had it. When I called my housing navigator in Alameda, she told me they gave it to the person next in line who was after me since I couldn’t occupy the unit. They laughed in my face even more and teased me that I didn’t get it. I had another program have a third party subsidy willing to pay for an apartment for a year, a staff was jealous because she didn’t have her own apartment and told Rebecca that she felt like I wasn’t ready. Rebecca sided with her staff and did something she knew was against her rules, which was prioritize staff over client. She cut off transportation and said she felt that it wasn’t fair that I had these opportunities and no one else in the house didn’t. I cried that day, because I was getting older without taking advantage of the opportunities I had. She blamed me for my attitude but they judged me from the first day, I wasn’t a problem until staff stopped me from my dreams and goals because of other participants. That’s one thing you never do, because all our lives are separate, and as a program that’s something you never do. This program needs new staff that actually care, and would never laugh and tease participants. They also used manipulation because I had no one to back me up. When I first arrived they didn’t wanna help or talk to me, telling me that I needed to stay in my room before and after work, that I couldn’t be in the common areas. I would say this program is supposed to be for me to use, and they would argue that it wasn’t. Until some time later on they flipped it and started saying that to me once I had given up. Shouldn’t have staff that hold someone back because of other participants. If you read this Rebecca, and Lisa, you both should let people that actually care take your spots.

i was in this group home for about a year from 2019-2020. one of the worst placements i’ve ever been in. living there was so mentally draining. constant altercations between other youths and sometimes staff- i never felt safe. horrible practice of safety precautions (youths would run away on the daily, staff too busy socializing at work). i was not at all in a mentally stable place at the time, so sometimes the staff would get the nerve to mock and laugh about my meltdowns. overall just a really terrible placement for foster youths.

I just left there a few months ago... The staff do their best, but don't always pay attention to what they say and do... While I was there in my cottage alone we lost over 10 staff and went through at least 3 clinicians... A lot of the kids that were there in my cottage got worse than when they went in and made it an unsafe environment for the rest... For those of is who had trauma... It was trigger us. That alone made it harder to complete our own program.. Law enforcements were always at our house. Overall it was a 50/50 experience for me.I trusted a few of the staff enough to be able to communicate my needs and i was okay for the time that I was there.. It was hard not gonna lie , but I made it through. Thank you to the ones who made my stay easier (You know who you are☺😎)

When I was a little boy I was placed at this group home. This is actually the only place I ever felt comfortable. There was 3 houses across the street that all look the same at the time. 1 boy home & 2 girl homes. Katie was the person who managed the staff,(Michelle, Alex & a few other)Lovely people with a giant heart. Thank you for everything you done for me & our community

I was a resident of the "Stockton children's home in the 70's (unfortunately for them).
They took us on kayaking trips, backpacking trips for two weeks into the mountains!
Great place to be unhomed as a kid!

Back in the year 2000 the Children's Home of Stockton brought me into their program. When I arrived I was scared, angry and depressed. The staff in the group home was very helpful guided me on the right track to success. Now I have a son and a beautiful fiance with a great full-time job and its all thanks to everyone at the Children's Home of Stockton. Without them I wouldn't be the man I am today. Thank you for everything.

My two sisters, my brother, and myself resided here back in the early 1960's when the Home housed children up to the age of 16 that needed temporary residence due to unfortunate circumstances. At that time the Home was the old brick building you see in the middle of the campus with one second story annex. I remember coming up the stairs; the girl's dorm was to the right and the boys to the left. Straight ahead on the second floor were two semi private rooms; the one on the left Boys; the one on the right girls. For myself it was somewhat a safe haven compared to the foster home we were at before here. We were placed here after staying at Mary Graham Hall behind the San Joaquin County Hospital in French Camp. I regress: Most of the play ground was blacktop at the time so the dorm parents would frequently take us across the street to Constitution park to play Touch/Tackle football. One year we attended the Stockton Ports baseball game at their old field by Oak Park; I had the winning ticket for a "Goat & Cart" given away at half time. I then became "Goat Boy" until being placed in foster home when I turned 16. That's the subject for another day. Fond Memories of this place.

Used to reside in this facility. They mix the trouble kids with the abused kids and send them all to same school. Hard to feel safe. Staff doesn't pay attention to what kids do. I am surprised that 20 years later this place is still there.
