I have been visiting Chauncey Social for the last 1.5 years. It is a great place in North Scottsdale! What I love about this unique establishment:

1.) The management and staff (too many to name) are amazing! They are attentive, responsive and get to know / remember you.
2.) Chauncey adapts to the time of week and day - they play major sports on game nights and on the weekends, they turn into a respectable night club with a DJ on Friday and Saturday evenings, and serve brunch on the weekends.
3.) They have a happy hour - both food and drinks (currently Monday to Friday from 3-6pm) - that can’t be met anywhere else in the near vicinity.

Highly recommend Chauncey Social!

The place looks nice & the drinks taste good but it is riddled with hidden fees.

I went with a group after work for Happy Hour. I thought they had a good Happy Hour menu but everything about this place sucks.

1 - portions are terribly small. For food, my friend ordered the eggrolls & I ordered the Chauncey Burger, dumplings. The egg roll is pretty much one egg roll cut in half for $6 & the dumplings are 3 flat “deconstructed” dumplings with one bite of filling. The Chauncey Burger was dry and small & tasted like something you would get at an elementary school cafeteria. I wish I took a picture! It was NOT AT ALL like the photo of the burger on this page. It was definitely the worst “burger” I ever received going out to eat. My friend ordered the fries, which were good. The sangria was good.

2 - venue fee. The place charges a 3.5% venue fee although it’s not a “special” venue. I am not sure why I am paying a venue fee when there was no special event. Isn’t being at the venue part of going out to eat?

3 - they charge an automatic “22% per $100 check”. Two problems with this- 22 is high, and together with the venue fee you’re paying over 25%. Secondly, I have never seen an automatic gratuity on check size- only number of guests. A small party could easily reach that amount of having a full meal.

The whole table to considered one “check” and the server is not able to split up tabs more than 4 ways. Even with it split, the 22% automatic gratuity is still present- just moved to one of the checks, even though each of the checks are less than $100? This means one person is responsible for paying the tips for the whole table. The check that did have the automatic gratuity does have “additional tip” written on the tip line, where the people who did not have that only had “tip”- meaning they don’t know it’s already been sacked onto one unlucky guest & the other guests are unaware that a tip has already been paid so they end up adding more. Outright scammy and shady

3 - server was inattentive & we had to flag her down to put in orders/get the bill. She did not come other than when asked to come and I don’t remember getting any water refills

Edit for response: “our fees are industry standard”
venue fees for this kind of establishment are not industry standard. Neither is 22%. Seven percentage of people tip more than 20% percent at sit down restaurants, so that is a blatant lie.

It was my first time visiting CS and I had a great time! I wanted to give a shout out to Matt, the bartender. He truly made our experience so fun and he’s the reason we will be coming back.
Bonus: The Dj was playing great music

Wife and I have been there a couple times and had a great time each visit. Great service, great atmosphere, DJ playing good music and overall low key but fun vibe without going to an obnoxious bar or club. Will be going back soon with a group!

I came here for the first time to have a few drinks with a friend. The experience was generally good, service I would say was excellent because of our server Jailene. She was super sweet and corrected a very slight mistake with our order without me having to ask. It’s the little things that go a long way

The best thing about this place was the attentive and friendly service. Unfortunately, the food was incredibly mediocre. The chicken penne in vodka sauce tasted like the sauce came out of a jar, and the chicken was a completely bland, overcooked chicken breast diced up and dropped on top of the pasta and sauce. The dish looked unappealing and the taste confirmed it. The prime rib dip was overcooked, unseasoned steak on a generic white bread roll that tasted like a hot dog bun. No flavor at all. The au jus dip just tasted like salt. The best thing we ate were the garlic parm chicken wing appetizers but only because there was some flavor. Anywhere else the wings would have been a disappointment. At times, the music was too loud for conversations at our table. They don't seem to know if they are trying to be a restaurant, a sports bar, or a place to get your pre-club drink on. They charge a 5% venue fee which is really a credit card fee because they take it off if you pay cash. Overall, just a bad experience.
