As soon as we drove onto the California Wild Center we were greeted by a few very nice employees who directed me to where I should drop of a baby bird that we found early evening on July 4th. It was a bit of a ling stressful holiday weekend
trying our best to care for a baby bird we knew little of. We weren't exactly sure what bird species she was, but the employees immediately identified her and we felt baby bird was in safe hands and she would recover and grow up to be set free in the near future. Thank you everyone for your helpful and caring work you do to care for so many wildlife creatures. L Carter

After the wildfires these animals need our help. This place was listed among the reputable services for donations.

It is tough to see people trying to review bomb one of the only services that cares for wildlife just because the animal they called in for didn’t make it. You have to believe in the cause- just because you brought in an animal doesn’t mean you’re the one helping every day.

Amazing people! My dog found a baby squirrel in the backyard and brought it to me. I couldn't determine whether or not it was injured so I started making phone calls and was advised to contact the CWC. They helped me out tremendously!

DO NOT BRING ANIMALS HERE. We found a gorgeous acorn woodpecker, she was totally alert, hopping around, scratching & pecking, drinking and pooping. Her wings opened without deformities, but she could not fly. We were assured that she would be rehabbed and released right back to where we found her. And if not- she'd remain at the center. THEY TOTALLY LIED TO US AND THEY KILLED THIS POOR BIRD. SHE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT READY TO CHECK OUT. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM FOR DONATIONS. DO NOT GO HERE. Should have been suspicious when we saw all the empty cages outside.

Thank god for reviews, I was looking for places to donate to after the wildfires in LA. Apparently this place does not do a good job keeping animals alive, especially ones that are not in life threatening situations. ALWAYS SMART TO CHECK

We recently brought a hummingbird here to be rehabilitated. In my conversations with the staff throughout the process, they gave the impression of being knowledgeable and compassionate. I was happy to give them a donation knowing that euthanasia is a possible outcome.

To those who are quite understandably upset to learn that their little critter was euthanized even though it was seemingly on the mend, please keep in mind that it would be inhumane to release an animal back into the wild that cannot make a full recovery, and this center cannot possibly provide a lifelong sanctuary for those that aren't able to.

Many animals are well adapted to hide serious injuries, and I trust that the CWC staff knows better than we do when rehabilitation would possible versus when it would just be prolonging an animal's misery. The fact that they are open and honest about their decisions speaks well of them.

I live in Lancaster. I found two baby California Scrub Jays and I didn't know what to do. They came right up to my door, so I couldn't ignore them. Their parents were extremely active, but I was still worried about the cats in my neighborhood. When I called the Wildlife Center, I was redirected because the birds were not injured and because I live so far away. Then the number they referred me to, I contacted them and they sent me to another number that they asked me to text a photo of the bird and I never received a response. The birds are dead. I genuinely didn't expect the Wildlife Center to come all the way out here, but ANY information of how to help keep them alive would've been nice, which is all I asked for in the first place.

We found this woodpecker in Griffith park on Sunday 1/14. She was very alert and alive but could not fly. We brought her to CA Wildlife center thinking that they will help her recover. They even assured us by taking down the address where the bird was found and LIED to us that the bird will either be treated and released back in Griffith Park OR the bird will stay at their center if she could not fly. These were all LIES bc we went back on Thursday 1/18, they told us the woodpecker was euthanized on the same day that she was brought in bc she is blind. the bird was not blind. They didnt even give the bird a chance to recover and killed her.

This is not a rehabilitation center, its a kill shelter for wildlife. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO HELP INJURED ANIMALS. THEY ARE A KILL SHELTER AND JUST MAKE CUTE ANIMAL "RESCUE" VIDEOS SO THEY CAN PUT HEARTWARMING VIDEOS AND ASK FOR DONATIONS. DO NOT DONATE A DIME TO THIS PLACE THAT CLAIMS TO HELP ANIMALS BUT INSTEAD KILL THEM.

it is the most sickening and horrifying feeling knowing that we thought we saved and rescued the little bird when we actually brought her to be killed.
