My family and I have our loved one residing at Brookdale Wake Forest. From the very first day of move in, there was a warm welcome from the residents and staff. Instantly we knew we had made the right decision. McKay in Sales, Sheri the Director and Brenda who works at the front desk are so helpful along the way. We are so happy with the care which is the most important thing to us. The three ladies mentioned go the extra mile to ensure Brookdale Wake Forest feels like home. We are very grateful.

Note: This feedback is specific to Brookdale Wake Forest Memory Care (aka Clare Bridge)

After a four year stay at Brookdale, we reluctantly moved my mom to a new facility after significant declines in nearly every aspect of services.

Resident care by staff - met expectations
Facility - recent renovation was superficial, growing concerns about maintenance of infrastructure, carpet soiled, unpleasant smells
Business administration - poor
Turnover of key personnel - high
Cost - highest by far of the 12 alternatives evaluated prior to move

My parents moved here at the beginning of June. The rooms are comfortable and bright, but this can be said of any decent facility. What sets Brookdale apart is the staff. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and above all, friendly. From before they moved in the staff made them feel welcome. They not only know my parents' names but all of us kids as well. (There are 5 of us.) Also, they seem to be happy working there. I never once had someone tell me that they were too busy to answer a question or help with an issue. One parent is in memory care and one in assisted living and I am equally happy with both. Their patience is amazing.

The only reason it gets a 4 instead of a 5 is the food; way too much fried and salty meals with few alternatives. It tastes great but I don't think it's the healthiest of menus, especially for the age group.

My mother moved into Brookdale’s memory care in March and we couldn’t be more pleased. I want to thank McKay and Wilson for making the transition for my mother smooth and comforting. They answered every question and reassured us this was the right move for my mother and us as well. She is now doing very well and the staff does an outstanding job taking care of her and her needs. Thank you so much.🙏

Brookdale Wake Forest is not a good choice if your loved one has limited mobility and needs significant assistance with activities of daily living. There are some caring staff; however, the facility is chronically understaffed, and those few good people cannot make up for the failure of management to hire enough aides.
Be aware that your loved one could wait up to an hour for toileting assistance, that they may not be put into bed until the arrival of third shift, that they may not be bathed regularly, that the rooms will not be cleaned properly or sheets changed regularly (see pictures of soiled sheets; feces on light switch, and used briefs on floor), and that they may be told, as my mom was, that if she didn't get out of bed between 5 and 5:45 am that she would not be able to eat breakfast. To add insult to injury, at last assessment, she was going to be charged for lack of willingness to arise at that hour, often after not being put in bed until 3 or even 4 am, with wet undergarments.
The worst of it is, managerial staff was most often unresponsive, not collaborative, unsupportive, and even adversarial.
Residents who are relatively mobile and still have good cognitive ability seem to fair ok. But avoid this facility if your loved one does not meet those criteria. You will be overcharged and underserved.

Note that it has been 4 weeks since Brookdale responded that their management team would be in touch, and I have not heard one word from anyone concerning this review or my ongoing concerns from January through September 2023.

Brookdale is a great place, very nice staff and kind to all the residents. The place is always clean and up to par. I would recommend to anyone. The staff treats the residents like family and that’s what you want!

This is an update…fair warning do not leave your love ones here . Broken sewer and water lines constantly no hot water .. prison food is better… moved out my family members. Trying to call the state on this place but they don’t care.

They provide poor service to the residents most after hours you can’t find anyone working there and a major lack of of nutritional meals. The maintenance is poor . Have had major brake downs of both hot and cold water for days. Toilets over flows that flood hallways and multiple rooms and leave carpets wet for days. They have multiple management changes and have a service to provide the staff … the staff doesn’t seem to stays the same….. as a response to the below comment from owner- we have many times you response is a joke …. Do not put your love ones in here even your dog
