I can't say enough great things about this place! From before I even came to Texas. I was living in kc, & was looking for shelter, due to a hit being put on my life, & carried through. Thank God I survived. With no where in kc to go I just started calling random shelters in other states. By the grace of God they accepted my daughter and I. Within 3 days of speaking with Ms Jazmin on the phone, to My departure that place was nothing short of a God send. All of the social workers (especially Ms Erica)😊were amazing. All of the workers from intake to the support staff was amazing! Ms Gabby, Ms Felicicia, Ms, Sonya, & anyone I'm forgetting ❤️while I was there from Sept20 - November 2020. The programs were awesome! I literally signed up for any and & all programs they were offering. Within 6 weeks my daughter and I were moved into our own place! We have been doing awesome since then. Their counselors are great! They even did follow up care for us for a year after!! Thank you so much Brighter Tomorrow's!! Yall saved our life! I'm forever grateful for all of🙏🏼🙌🏽❤️ yall!! The maintenance guys too!!

I was there some time ago. It is a good place to get away from an abuser. However I followed all of their rules. I even was on unemployment found a job. They kicked me out of the program and out of an apartment because I was able to work from home. Even met my boss who is a computer technician. The concept is wonderful but the staff isn't except for Ms. Gabby.

This is not a good place at all to get away from your abuser. There were women leaving to go back to their abusers because the staff here BULLY YOU. The best staff member who is kind and compassionate towards women in domestic violence situations is GABBY. I loved her and she didn't treat the women there any different. Other staff members didn't care. Monica (LIED on me to other staff members while 3 other girls including myself all we're there and told staff she lied) They don't have WIFI so if you don't have a phone you will not be able to get in contact with ANYBODY. I had to use the last bit of money I had to turn on my phone because they want you to find resources for yourself with NONE OF THEIR RESOURCES ... Please do not come here if you need SINCERE GENUINE HELP. I came with my child and she was scared to go to sleep at night there. They can't provide you with TRANSPORTATION because they have nobody to TRANSPORT... They use their own vehicles and that's only to places near them. I can't stress enough if you want HELP do not come to this place ! I was there for 2 weeks and they put out 4-5 girls and their children for petty things Examples : Missing an appointment with a case manager; Not doing a chore ; Not making up beds ... a woman came from out of town and they wrote her up 3-4 times within the 4 days she was there. It's like you're in school worried about getting a write up and sent to the principals office. It's like an actual home but it's not a "HOMEY" FEEL ..Try somewhere else besides here. If you are weak minded you won't survive here even though you're a survivor of DV. Don't give up LADIES, leaving is a huge step just find a SAFE HAVEN.. This isn't the place if you don't want to add more stress to an already stressful situation.

It is a wonderful place to get back on your feet. My case worker helped me with child care and housing .I fell in love with the staff they are very nice people, just don't do the one on one with the so called therapy person she was very inexperience and for the most part I felt she didn't care. The groups were childish and not very helpful as well

This place saved my life for a few weeks. Staff here was more compassionate than at other DV shelters I’ve been to (I know how to pick the perfectly wrong guy every single time so I have frequented many DV shelters) and the case workers offered more resources to get in contact with than any other DV place I have been to.

The only thing is their funding only allows 30 days in emergency shelter and when you’re coming out of a domestically violent situation, that doesn’t give you much time to regroup and catch yourself; the you that had been tied up in surviving the abuse.

I actually had more of a problem with the women in shelter than I ever had with staff. Women coming out of DV are on guard, on the offense and ready to defend themselves against anything that might be taken out of proportion.

Shelter staff has no choice but to be standoffish (which may come across as rude) and their are rules that need to be followed by all living in a cramped situation like that and some people just don’t like to be told what to do. I found those seeking shelter to be much more rude than staff.

And the only reason they don’t have transportation at this time is because I haven’t gone in to fill out my application to be the transport specialist there. The last girl quit and they haven’t found anyone else.

Literally, this is the most compassionate place I have been. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because the beds were saggy and we had a wake up time 😡

Wouldn't recommend this shelter to anyone. Staff is rude, they bully you and will write you up with a quickness. No questions asked. If you have no transportation to handle business here then you are kind of out of luck if it isnt walking distance. Before your exit date and if all other shelters are full and you tell them you have no where else to go with your children you still HAVE TO BE OUT! Whether they give you and extension and you still haven't found anything by then YOU STILL HAVE TO EXIT WITH NO WHERE TO GO WITH YOUR CHILDREN! sad....These people are very un sympathetic and show no empathy! They are very COLD and CUT THROAT! Everything you do here you must do ON YOUR OWN! Dont know what it is the staff do here but it sure isnt helping anyone progress! They just give u a place to stay for a month and then they wash they're hands with you! Not a very welcoming shelter. Doesnt even deserve a 1 star.
