Our family and son's case worker met the Director of Residency Miss Olds. Do not trust the Berkley Citizens organization. One never promises a child with ASD placement and work. Told him he is perfect candidate. Discuss job placements. Mentioned the jobs pays $10/hr. She said, they are "Star Wars" buddies.

Angie acted excited. Both said, he is a good fit. Later pretend to not have made any commitments. They constantly changed their
Rationale.

We then proceeded to the home after a lengthy discussion. No residents were home. We toured the house, neighborhood, and had further discussions. No issues and nothing but positives. Recall all this discussions occurred in the presence of my son's case manager who represents both my son and the South Carolina interests.

We discussed various options and acceptance. She asked directly, does he want to move in? He said, yes. Ms. Olds confirmed it was his. We also discussed meeting the residents. Having my son stay over a weekend. There are sevetal houses available if conflicts. Told he would have a house.

The case manager was pleased. We proceed to complete all the paperwork, make appointment with doctors, and buy essentials they said was required for move in. We also look at bedroom furniture. Told to call back the following week for move in date.

We called staff said Ms. Olds was on vacation. Odd she told us that this week her workload tight moving people around. She is making arrangements. Anyways, we were provided Nov 08, 2021 as a move in date.

We proceeded to make appointments. We faxed all the requested information to her. We purchased all the required household items. Almost bought a bedroom set. Told he could use the bed present in the home, so we did have to procure bedding at this time.

It was fast approaching the date for the weekend stay. No one contacted us. Case Manger said, everything is on track. The weekend never happened. We were contacted and arrangements made for another weekend and a meeting to discuss his stay.

The meeting never happened. He did not stay over the weekend. After all the efforts to make medical appointments, purchasing items, and verbal agreements with a disable adult, Case Manger, and family they called at 6pm to tell us the meeting and weekend stay was canceled.

Inquires from us and his case worker was frustrating. They were slow to respond. When they did respond they could not provide a direct answer to when, how, or whom decided he was no longer a fit. They have not provided a written explanation.

Recall the information faxed is positive and it contined no detailed medical information. The staff at Berkley Citizens, my knowledge, are not doctors, nurses or medical practionors. However, they evaluated him.

This elvaution is not based on new information since our original meeting. Finally said, there is a committee review. The committee rejected him afterwards another evaluation. What is the critera? No one is forth coming. Nothing was mentioned previously. Nothing provided in writing. The Case Manger does not know. Weird?

They originally responded to the South Carolina's request for residency. Discuss the situation with the Case Manger. There is nothing he could do. They reviewed his profile before any meetings or discussions were held. Everything was satisfactory.

All that was said and done is very unprofessional. It in conderdicts Berkley Citizens foundation vision. Multiple misleading statements. They broke promises to my son. It cause tremendous trauma. They have not to this date provided a believable rationale.

If they act like this with family and state representative, one wonders. What is going on within the organization? How many disabled adults have been traumatized? What is the actual quality of services provided?
Whom providing oversight? It does not appear to be the State because no rational explanation provided.

Do not trust Berkley Citizens. They will traumatized disabled adults. The Staff provides vague, misleading statements. Berkly Citizens offers hope. Then suddenly crushes hope, trust, and respect.
