My daughter is the quintessential thrift store shopper. I am amazed that she can put together full outfits, with shoes and a handbag, for less than $20 and look like a million bucks. Today we visited her favorite spot, Beacon Hill. The store is, forgive the cliche, a treasure trove. The best part is that the money you spend is money that serves the community. Beacon Hill runs the shop & cafe to help support the Heart Gallery of Alaska, Safe Families for Children and the Family Support Center, all programs that focus on helping Alaskan children through foster care, adoption and counseling services. They accept donations at the shop as well, so when you save $200 on your purchase of very good quality and stylish items, remember to round up as much as you can to fund their good work! Also remember to leave lots of time...we only had about 20 minutes and I barely got through one room...there is an extensive selection.

I have been shopping and donating to this place for past 3 years and I love shopping here. Amazing offerings for baby, women and men’s fashion and housewares. They have antiques, small furniture and seasonal items. The manager has really organized this place and the staff are always friendly. Well worth shopping and donating here and supporting their mission.

Love this place! Such an amazing quality selection, well organized and clean! The prices are also on par with normal thrift store prices. I could get lost in there and be happy for hours.

I enjoy shopping at this store, and go out of my way to donate to them. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and kind. They are not a for profit corporate rip off- they are community minded, faith based mostly volunteers finding homes for youth and supporting families who are experiencing difficulties
I have found some beautiful, high quality items here.

Well, I'm not happy to rate them with 2 stars, however, this visit to one of my favorite thrift stores was most upsetting. It's been getting gradually worse my last couple visits. One of the main employees (tall older blonde female) which I believe is a manager or the boss, whichever, has got a terrible attitude. She stereotypes and she doesn't hide it nor do I think she even tries to.
I'm always friendly and respectful regardless of how rude and unnecessary her attitude is but she shouldn't be in retail, she shouldn't be dealing with the public at all. If she's having a bad day that's one thing but a bad year may suggest she doesn't like her job much.
It's disturbing when someone like this is in a position of authority because they pass all their bad habits down the line and it just makes for a bad environment for everyone.
Aside from that, I love their selection of clothes, housewares, decor, and almost any little cool trinket you want, they'll have it. They get an amazing variety of donations from folks and it's definitely at the top of my list for shock value when it comes to the ooh's and ahh's that come from me the second I step inside. Plus, the layout of the place separates then from the rest which is a nice little added bonus to a day of shopping.

The most amazing organisation! This is the best thrift store in anchorage, they have beautiful antique furniture, dishes, high end close, luggage, everything! prices are very affordable on everything they sell, and best of all; 100% of all profits go to foster children in AK. So you can't go wrong shopping at Beacon Hill! Its directly across arctic from McDonald's and attached to the old Bailey's Furniture to the left.
