Called today to finally use a source to get some assistance. Which we were referred to this organization by our dear Pastor Ray Hardee of the Pointe Church in Belmont, NC where we are currently members. Our Pastor had texted us over a month or so ago to reach out to this organization and ask for Paula and let her know that Pastor Ray sent you. So, I called today, and a lady answers within 2 rings she did not say her name upon answer but advised I had called the Belmont Community Organization, and I asked to speak with Paula and she advised she was Paula and she also asked what did I need? I advised her that our Pastor Ray Hardee of the Pointe Church referred us, he said we could reach out for assistance. Our calls are recorded
We were told that our Pastor takes a portion of proceeds donated by members including us to the BCO. Mind you we live 3 miles from Belmont, and we live in Charlotte, NC. FYI: We do majority of our shopping etc. In the Gaston County area to keep from going on the interstate to shop in Charlotte, we are literally at the end of the Charlotte Mecklenburg County Line and everything we need is closer to us in Gaston County than it is in Charlotte, NC. Back to the phone conversation today to Ms. Paula at BCO: She then proceeds to cut me off and raise her voice a bit and advised me that "IF YOU LIVE IN CHARLOTTE YOU NEED TO GO TO A FOOD BANK IN CHARLOTT!!" So I immediately hung up. I will be sure to advise our Pastor of this, and he has members all over and outside of North Carolina. I will also ask our Pastor next time before he refers us somewhere to make sure we are eligible for that resource, so we don't have to be met with this disappointment. But also, looking on their website read who they ONLY SERVE!! Funny how Charlotte welcomes people all over the world for help including gaston county residents, but this organization only serves Belmont residents. I don't know how that is not discriminating?! Godspeed, Jesus loves everybody and thank God I live in a loving city who opens it hearts and arms to people all over the world!!

That lady with short black hair that works there should not be working with people who are down on their luck. She was rude to me and made me feel so low. I noticed the lady before me she treated the same way. She needs to work at an animal shelter where they can't understand how rude she is being and hurt their feelings. I will starve before i go back there.

They have a lot of items to help families with including a food pantry, clothes closet, furniture, shoes, kitchen needs, etc. they also help with bills to if you need help with that. When I was really struggling this place helped me keep my feet on the ground. I’m so thankful for these people that work and give their time and the people who donate to this place as well to.

As I read some of the negative reviews I feel sad that those coming for help have no compassion to the VOLUNTEERS as if they don't have thing on their own plate. So if someone is rude try not to take it personally. It just means they are human too. Thank you BCO for helping my family.
