We adopted our Gillian (Gilly) from ARE during their Oceanside PetSmart event on 7/1/2023. I went out for sushi and returned with our dearest pit bull puppy. I knew the second I glimpsed at her that she would be coming home with me. It was so easy to apply there at the event. We have had her for almost 3 weeks but feels like she was always here and part of our family pack. We love her so much!!

The staff manager was on top of everything and really cared about the animals. She treated the work release helpers with respect (it’s funny seeing the bad reviews from them, they were definitely mad because they have the be there lol). Overall good experience and she’s doing the most with what is donated to her. Shelter gets cleaned ever day and definitely a positive experience.

ARE Animal Rescue is an amazing organization! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable & hard working to say the least. We have welcomed 2 fur babies into our home with ease through their adoption process. Thank you for everything you do.?

They treat these dogs horrible. They leave all the work for people on work release. They sell all the donations they receive from the community and they don’t give the dogs the toys that were donated and they stay in the kennels rain or shine. When it rains the kennels get filled with water but the workers do not care.

EDIT: Look at this company getting defensive over the TRUTH!!
I’ve worked here and this company is horrible. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET HERE. They leave the pets outside in the heat and rain and they do not care about your animals. THIS IS JUST A PAYCHECK TO THEM. They do not EVER give any of the toys that’s were donated, unsupervised or supervised. The regular staff does not lift a finger but will have work release and the volunteers do all the work. Go somewhere else, again I worked here and it’s horrible. Whatever rebuttals they have is only to save themselves from looking bad.

We are so lucky to have gotten our sweet boy from ARE!!! He's the perfect addition to our family. Everyone there truly loves those animals and you can see it in the care they recieve. From the dedicated volunteers to the staff members at PetSmart, the cats are loved and spoiled. They all knew each cat individually and loved them as if they were their own. Thank you ARE for taking such great care of our boy until he found his permanent place at his forever home.

Thank you for saving the kitten that was about to be euthanized from Riverside Shelter today!! Kitty had only hours left before he was going to be euthanized the next day if no one was willing to adopt him, this rescue stepped in saved his life
