I have heard great things from my fellow veterans about the American Legion but it is painful that this was my first interaction with an American Legion. I came to this post for a venue tour for my upcoming wedding and to join as a member. I called to schedule the tour beforehand, was told to come anytime to tour the venue. When I entered the venue, the bartender was busy serving so I used that time to use the restroom. A member followed me into the restroom, showed the buck knife that was on his hip and asked me if I was a member. I explained, while urinating in the bathroom that I am a veteran, touring the venue, and I would like to become a member. I asked him if he worked there and said "You could say that." When I left the restroom, my fiancee and her friend were talking to the Post President who turned his back to me as I walked up. He offered an auxiliary and sons of membership to my fiancee and her friend but continued to ignore me when I told him that I was interested in a membership and even took out my VA ID card. After telling the Post President I was a veteran about 5 or 6 times he finally gets me a membership interest form. The president then introduces me to the regulars which includes a Vietnam veteran who called his ex-wife a c*** no less than 3 times and tells me not to get married and the guy who followed me into the bathroom who also proceeded to interrogate me about my military service. Additionally during the venue tour we were told not to turn on the fan in the main ballroom because it will make the room hotter. The room was at about 85 degrees at the time. He said we are not allowed to use the kitchen but we can have the food vendor set up in the cobweb infested delivery area in the back. The post president then asked if we knew someone who could fix the disco ball that was in the main ballroom because it could fall at any second. This review is from my own personal experience at this American Legion. I understand that the American Legion is a wonderful organization that does amazing work for veterans, their families and the community as a whole. This review is more of a reflection of this American Legion post.

Came here for a special celebration for my friend’s family. There were plenty of parking spaces. This place seemed old, has a lot of historical characters, and most importantly well maintained. There were two security guards at the door, and they were friendly. It was a hot day, and the air conditioning is running in a nice temperature. There was an open bar, and some older ladies were running it. They are all friendly, and price was reasonable.

It's a cool place to meet some random people. Mostly elderly and veterans. Some interesting characters for sure. The bar is lacking all of what you would want to drink in today's day and age. They do have the basic domestic and imported beers. Perfect for an older cat, who doesn't care what microbrewery in a small corner of what town the beer was made in. Gimme a giant batch good ole lobbyist funded beer!
