I had the great honor of attending today’s Memorial Day event at Post 77 today. Many great men and women who have served our nation along many good Americans that did not were there to come together out of respect for those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and paid the ultimate price for our country. It was an honor to be in presence of so many great people as we honored our fallen. Hendersonville is a beautiful community of people and I’m glad we landed here this Memorial Day!
We didn’t stay for the free BBQ but I know it looked good. What a proud city!

Paid my annual dues and then drove 1h 20m to celebrate my fiancés 6 month anniversary with a nice dinner in the company of my fellow veterans only to be stopped at the door and denied entry and services. My fiancé is from a foreign country and I spoke highly of the camaraderie she should expect among veterans. Talk about being embarrassed and ashamed. An older man, short in stature, with a long gray beard said “Are you a legionnaire?” I said “Yes, sir”. He said “Well, you’re 10 minutes late. There’s a meeting upstairs and you have to attend. You can’t come inside to eat here until it’s over.” I arrived at 7:10pm and the first thing the man said was that I am late for a meeting I didn’t know existed and unwelcome to eat here. I was unable to wait another 50 minutes for dinner so we went to Binions. They got me for one annual due, but they won’t get me again. I am unsure if the man works there. He may have just been a regular that was too comfortable. It’s not his name on the establishment so I understand why he wouldn’t care how he treated a veteran. Given he wasn’t in the meeting I assume he wasn’t a veteran either. When I declined to attend the meeting he called for the bartend and said “This guy needs some directions.” She explained she couldn’t serve me, but in a more professional manner that I accepted. The food smelled delicious. I’m sure whoever it was for enjoyed it, but everyone except the veteran was welcome to eat there during that hour so I can’t speak on that. I won’t be returning. Too many options out there to risk bringing my family there and having to deal with some random event that prevents us from eating. Especially given the manner they choose to go about telling you that you’re not welcome. That was embarrassing and I wanted to hurt him for disrespecting me, but my family was present so I chose to write this review instead.

7/24 Tina, volunteer bartender was great. Lunch was good today. Stopped in 2 more times, and disappointed by non friendly bartenders and no one talks to you. We always greet folks at the bar, but no return chit chat.
Come to my Post in Odessa and you will make new friends!

7/20/21. Stopped in to see if it was better than in 2019. Very happy to say the bartender was nice this time. So thank you Michele. We enjoyed a Philly cheese steak sandwich for lunch. No one smoked while we were there, but it’s still a smoking lodge.

Entrance is on 3rd Ave, not 4th. Large parking lot on West side off 3rd. GPS is misleading. Not so friendly yet. Will update if things improve. Don’t forget this is NC, so it is definitely a smoking facility. 😥

October 5, 2022 update: Still an awesome place to socialize, dine on delicious foods & enjoy great beverages.

December 2021 Update:
The Canteen is now non-smoking. A SMOKING SECTION HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING.

The food is still AWESOME!! We enjoyed some very well prepared steaks.

The service is still top notch!

After 18 months of testing, this post has the BEST burger in town! The rest of the menu is great and the wings are perfect!! My family loves this place!

The food has went from great to terrible. Very little specials to choose from. The jalapeno meatballs went from larger than a golf ball to much smaller. You buy a crown and coke for a certain price but they add on and extra charge of a mixer. Over priced and weak!!! Such a terrible waste it was a great place to go eat and have a drink.

Invited relatives and friends for St Patrick's Day. I had called earlier and was told that corned beef will be ready at 1:00. We sat from 1:00-2:00 waiting. Around 2:15 We got served. Wasn't quality and I had suggested to waitress that cook should come and apologize for telling us food was ready at 1:30 . We were only customers for food. Won't go back again.
