This morning already I reached out for help and when I finally got through the line. The lady that answered the phone was extremely rude and told me because I have an out-of-state license even though I live in Alabama that she wasn't able to help me and then proceed to hang up on me. I just feel like if you going to work in a place to help people you need to be more kind and compassionate and if you hate your job quit or don't volunteer because God is love and what you displayed this morning was not love.

If you're down on your luck and you need something to eat they got some good food there. If you have financial problems we prepared to jump the hurdles cuz they will help you. Staff seem friendly and kind there you will get a dose of the old time religion before you leave

Do not donate money or anything to this place. .. .I went to them to get utilities assistance I called weeks in advance to my bill being due to make sure I had plenty of time to straighten it out.. they called me back on the 24th and told me I'd have to call back on the 26th when my bill was late to get an appointment... So I did just that the woman assured me that it would be plenty of time to make it in the 8 days the electric company gives after your late... Well they called me back Wednesday and made my appointment for the 8th my cut off day was the 5th the woman assured me that depending on the amount if I was cut off they could help me be reconnected! ! Thank God I went to the electric company ahead of time and got a 2 day extension just incase there was any issue so I didn't spend the weekend with out electricity, and water with 2 small kids..... Anyways I show up to my appointment and they tell me. They can't help because my ID is from Florida!!!! Even though I have all the proper paperwork they need.... I'm clearly poor and don't have the resources at this time to pay 30$ for a new birth certificate from out of state and 50$ for a new Alabama ID. .... So they turned me down hours before I'm to be disconnected after being assured it will be ok and after being assured they will help. Out and waiting weeks in advance these people are something else!!!!! I'd like to know what they are doing with all that donated funds... .

So I was told by LIHEAP and the electric company to contact Catholic Social Services for assistance which I did last Thursday and they told me to call back Friday morning to take set appointments on Fridays when I called back on Friday they told me that I could have an appointment Monday morning for food and clothing assistance and that they would contact me further for an appointment to help out with financial assistance for my electric bill today is Friday exactly one week later and I called them this afternoon just now to try to get my appointment figured out when it was supposed to be because I was told it would be no more than two days and to wait two more days if I still haven't heard from him so literally waited 5 business days and when I called they told me that they had set my appointment for the 5th which would have been Wednesday I missed it and there was no funds available but nobody has contacted me at all about an appointment and I triple checked my call logs there is no call incoming from that number at any point in time between the time that I talk to them and today I hope that they do other people better than this I have lost my wife and my children are about to be without power during this cold season I have done everything from donate plasma to beg from family members and a GoFundMe account and was able to come up with most of the bill however the electric company stated that they needed the whole bill by the end of the month or I would have to be cut off leaving only $140 I would rather pay my electric then seek out gifts for my children because the gift of warmth is everything thank you I hope that this does not happen to anybody further

What a scam, dont waste your time asking for help or your money donating to them.I called twice after leaving VA to get a little help for food when I really needed it.Lots of red tape and said they couldn't help.In the past I've donated heavily to this organizatuon. They were glad to get the donations then without any red tape or putting me off. There are much better organizations who really want to help. Please donate your money and time to them. In response to your answer, I have lived in the panhandle of Florida most of my life. I have contributed time and money to Catholic charities in my past.I am a Amateur Radio Operator and have assisted in emergency radio operations and distributing.food for Catholic Services in the past. Please dont say I havent because that makes you a liar.Ive been in a bad situation this week and have called twice.I stand by my word bc it's the truth. My review stands as written.
