This is the Boys and Girls Club that I used to volunteer at for about 12 years regularly and sometimes off and on (2008-2020). Daniel Miranda and Vanessa are great leaders there.

Maritza, the activities director is extremely rude and has not an ounce of customer service. Not only is her only verbal communication combative she will argue against something even when you have proof that what she is saying is wrong. She has, on multiple occasions, refused to talk to the parents of the children that she is in charge of. I am partially responsible for 3 separate families, we all share pick up and drop of duties between all of the adults, the few occasions I have seen her, she has been extremely rude and just gives dirty looks if you have the smallest question. I asked her about the center being closed for Juneteenth, as I just wanted to confirm the dates and she got extremely defensive just because I double checked the date. She is also a liar, and will say whatever she needs to to get to to walk away, but does not follow up on her promises. She lied about the children's lunches and how that was being handled, we had to find out from our children directly that they are not even given real food on Fridays, only snack packs.

My niece broke her wrist while in their care, and Maritza does not care. The employees failed at reporting the incident, did not file an incident report, and Maritza refuses to even acknowledge that the injury happened. This poor girl is in a cast, and Maritza will not even follow up with her employees to find out how this happened, and got snappy and rude when her parent tried to get more information on how her child got hurt.

My own son had his pants pulled down in front of other children, and the boys and girls club staff did not even call to inform me. My son came home in tears because people saw his private parts.

I will never be using boys and girls club. Maritza is incompetent and should not be allowed to work with children or parents. Again, every interaction I have had with her has been negative. She becomes combative the second you try to talk to her about anything. I will be telling all my friends that boys and girls club can not be trusted.

This location is literally less than a min away from where we live, but I didn't like the fact that the older boys and girls shared a restroom and if there are younger kids around? They're all supposed to use the same toilet? That's so unsanitary, can that actually pass the health department here in Az? .... AND share the same restroom space?....... idk. Also the fact that there is no safe space for you ger kids in elementary... they all share the same space together... that didn't sit well with me. So because of these factors, I have decided this location wasn't the right choice for my kid. My child didnt even feel comfortable. I hope they change some things around and make it a place COMFORTABLE for the kids coming in and appropriate for all ages...

Not a lot of parking here, but I like the mission. Very nice building as well. They have a mural on the side that says be kind and I'm sure they try to follow it. I'm not someone who donates to these types of projects, but I might in the future.
