The Labor & Delivery unit here has unfortunately employed an OBGYN by the name of Mark A Kijek. This man has completely traumatized myself and others who were under his "care".

Kijek is someone who does not respect bodily autonomy or informed consent (or really any consent at all). He performed two unnecessary procedures on me against my will to speed things along for himself during my labor and delivery — one of the procedures he continued to do AS I was actively begging him not to. Again, a procedure that wasn't medically necessary and a procedure I had the right to deny consent to. I was powerless to stop it due to the epidural. He also pressured me into several other interventions that I did not want and that were not necessary (I was low risk and healthy). I have since spoken with other medical professionals about it and they were horrified by my experience with him.

I have several other examples to showcase his awful bedside manner/character but this review is getting too long. Overall, he clearly has no respect for his patients and also has running theme of telling women to "be quiet" and that "he's not hurting them" as he's actively putting them through excruciating pain (feel free to check his reviews for his other practice in Illinois).

If you happen to see this before you give birth here, I highly suggest that you specifically request not to have him be present/fire him on the spot.

Former Healthcare professional here. I have been treated personally in this ER and I have to say the Quality of Care received since the "changes" have been made over the last 18 months are extremely discouraging. The incompetence and rudeness by staff in the ER needs to be looked at from not only the Highest Level of Management, Certifications from the Arkansas Board of Health and Human Service but also the Joint Commission and Accreditation Commission for Health Care. I am appalled at the level of which the nurses stooped and the lack of basic Nursing skills and CARE and attention that was occurring resulting in my questioning their behaviors and lack of professionalism, quality of care and skills to both my sister with Parkinson's and Dementia and MY Self. Including it taking HOURS to obtain a Simple mini catheter urine sample which is a BASIC nursing Skill! If our National Nursing Schools are not teaching such WE all need to be very concerned about what exactly is being taught or where are Nurses are being educated! It took my asking what would happen if I just LEFT. I was in formed they would contact Adult Protective Services. ON what charges I have been sitting there in a room with my sister complaining of PAIN and NEEDING to PEE for over 5 hours. NO Doctor ever PHYSICALLY Examined Her At ALL. I did speak to him in the hall 3 times, he said each time "I'm looking for a reason to keep her". SHE fell, it is not the first time she has fallen as a result of taking steps without her walker. It was the first time I had her taken to the ER for such because of her complaints. Ultimately she was admitted to National Park Medical Center's Senior Care Unit again with NO Follow up instructions given to Me.

If you like terrible service with labor and delivery let me tell you this gem is perfect for you... They have maybe 2 nurses that don't have an attitude 24/7 and I pray they find better jobs. They over schedule inductions and then waste your time been staying close to the hospital for 2 days waiting on a bed yet Everytime we call they filled one. I would recommend you take your chances with baptist in Malvern long before going here. It's uncle, unprofessional and an all out waste of time... They should have been shut down when they gave all those people staff infections a couple years ago

The ER is the worst place to be , they discharge a dementia patient without letting the family know.. by the grace of god that he made it home on his own because this was a unsafe discharge and neglected to the fully cause it could have went very poorly. Instead of apologizing all was met was attitude’s ,lack of common sense, and excuses/lies on the other end of the phone - unprofessional and disgusting! i will sent my complaints to joint commission how poorly they handle this situation. Its hard enough for families to deal with love one who losing themselves slowly ,change of behavior, to fear of them may hurting themselves. Now you got hospital staffs not processing how to handle traumatic situations..

I found the ER staff to be imcompotant. I have kidney disease, I have been in an extreme amount of pain, nausea, fatigue, etc. No offer of a wheelchair, just shown to room 11 and left there. A lab tech came in for a urine/small blood sample. Left there for 2 hours. I had to hunt down staff to ask for something for nausea and pain
A nurse finally came in, stated why didn't they start an IV I will have an IV started and talk to the doctor. Still nothing... I got up and left, they wanted me to sign an AMA,I refused and told they that I had,in fact, received no medical care. I am still nauseous and in pain....

Be very wary of Dr Coney in the ER. She insisted that my abdominal pain was a viral infection and refused to run an ultrasound to see if there was anything else. After spending several hours and $$ she told me to leave and “wait it out”. Instead of going home I went to another local ER. They immediately did an ultrasound and found several gallstones and I have now been admitted to the other hospital to have my gallbladder removed. After surgery they told me I had gangrenous cholecystitis which can be dangerous or even fatal if left untreated. Dr Coney was very rude and condescending

I couldn't believe it,what I heard about the Nat'l Park Emergency Room and the hospital itself was true. The experience was so bazaar words may not be enough from the way I was treated in just the first 3 minutes after being led into a treatment room where this nurse or tech was ComPletely twisting my explanation of why I'm here. Opposite Day! I immediately got up and went to St.Vincents.

NURSES didn't verify blood with both in room. I have rare blood type which take at least a day to obtain. The hospital had it as soon as I was in ER
I had a horrible reaction for 3 days. I have never had a bad reaction with the correct blood type.
