My wife and I took the scenic route to the visitor center on Route 55 from Eldred, NY. It was my goal to climb the fire tower to see how the fire towers protected the local forests years ago. The visitor center is close by and had friendly and helpful staff. I include photos from the top of the tower.

This was our first stop to enjoy the snow. The kids loved it. We hiked up to the top of the trail. Nice little hike! We didn't go into the visitor center, but the park was great, and the trail was nice. Very pretty in the winter!

Small visors center with some walking trails around its campus. There is a fire tower located in the wooded area behind the visitor center building. We stopped here as we are attempting the Catskill Fire Tower Challenge and wanted to climb Esopus Creek Fire Tower

This place offers a great selection of quality gear rentals, including snowshoes, trail crampons, and bear canisters. The staff is both helpful and educational. It's conveniently located right off a state road, making it a perfect jumping-off point for exploring the Catskills. The fire tower on the property provides stunning views, and there's plenty of parking available.

We went to hike the trails. The trail up the mountain was narrow. We opted to hike the trail on the flat - it was far easier to navigate. We initially had trouble finding the fire tower, expecting it to be on top of the mountain 😄

Visitor center is spacious and bright, good stop just for information about the region's offerings, but also worthwhile as a destination. There's a nice little park surrounding the visitor center. Fire Tower gives good views of the Northeastern Catskills. Interpretive trail gives good overview of Catskill history and nature. Planning to hike the rest of the trails next time I visit.
