My husband was admitted to the burn unit. It was after 11 pm when I was able to check in at the Chavis House. I was already near tears because of the situation my husband was in. The lady that let me in and checked me in was not very nice to me and made me feel like I was a burden being there. Lots of huffing and eye rolling. She showed me around and said lunch and dinner was brought in everyday. The room was literally a bedroom with two beds and a dresser and nightstand. The lock on the door is like a hotel room lock so you do feel safe.
The rooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable. There is no tv in the bedroom but there is a shared living room with one. The bathroom is also shared.
This is such a wonderful place for those that need a bed while a family member is in the burn unit.
There was no fee to stay and everything you absolutely need is there.
The lady was much nicer the next morning and helped me make sure I could get back in. I understand everyone has bad days (or nights).
Thank you so much for providing a place for me to sleep while my husband was in the burn unit.

Our daughter was sent here to stay a few nights ago and it was the worst experience I’ve ever seen at a place that’s supposed to be compassionate to the families of burn patients. The lady who checked her in was the rudest like we were a bother.

I gave the Chavis a 4 I would of given a 5, but there is a lady who works Monday through Friday day shift. She has no respect for families privacy. Families are exchanging experiences and she keeps budding in asking medical questions. She even downed the hospital in front of the families saying they chopped up people she knew. Whatever issue she has with the hospital should be left at the door when she is dealing with families. Who do I address this with.

A very comfortable bed for weary, tired & far from home families. Accommodations we very pleasing, with quite reading/completer room, lovely sunroom and large utility room . I was a patient at the hospital, my husband & cousin stayed here. Once I was released, we had to stop and get their belongings. I was curious and tagged along. Great kitchen and dinner area. What an honor to have been allowed to say.
Our family, sincerely, thanks you.

I get such a good feeling when I walk through the doors. The place is very clean and tidy but much more than that, there is something… what is it? Grace? Yes! I think that is it. I get a feeling of peace and grace here and that is something no money can buy.
