Newtown is great. Leah Zamir with Guild mortgage is a liar and gaslighter who also spoke down to us and told us we were lucky to be buying any home so we shouldn’t complain that we were surprised with a much higher interest rate than we were previously told (by Jonathan) we would have.

If NCD cares about giving people dignity in home purchases, then find another lender for us to work with!! Forcing us to go with Guild isn’t right. Jonathan pretended to care and said he might have another option, but left all the legwork up to us giving us a phone number for a private lender who never answered the phone and never called us back. Then, while waiting to hear back from this other mysterious lender, we were pressured by Shawna that we needed to sign or we could go find something else and not have the NCD house we qualified for.

So we had no choice, but absolutely we would have never gone with Guild if we had a choice; because we don’t give our money to people who try to gaslight us and are mean and devaluing to us.

To be clear, part of the reason why we were upset was because the interest rate Leah told us about was much higher than the interest rate Jonathan told our agents about the first time he spoke with them. But the main reason why we were upset is because Leah spoke down to us and tried to gaslight us about the situation.

When I asked Jonathan why he told our agents one rate and then we were given another he replied he didn’t know. This was in a phone conversation with him, my husband and I, and our real estate agents.

When Leah called us to talk about our rate, and she announced that we would have a much higher rate, my husband and I were obviously taken back and needed some time to process this new life-changing financial information for one of the biggest decisions we will ever make in our lives. Leah did not want to give us time to process this information or let us off the phone to verify information, instead she repeatedly tried to tell us that Jonathan had never said there would be a lower interest rate. She repeatedly told us that we were wrong in several different ways. She also repeatedly told us that the first time homebuyer loan that we were prequalified for through our own bank, didn’t exist. She claimed that she knew about every single mortgage loan in several different states and it wasn’t possible. This is despite the reality that we were prequalified through our bank for said loan, and that’s how we were looking at homes.

Leah sent what was supposed to be an apology email, but in the email she “apologized” for us misunderstanding that the interest rate would be higher, and then she attempted to blame shift that onto Jonathan and Shawna, but mainly Shawna. She made no mention of what we were actually really upset over. We expressed clearly to members of NCD, that she gaslighted, lied, and devalued us in our phone conversation with her.
