Hospice was always such an ugly word to me. The finality of deciding to stop treatment and transition to hospice is daunting. This is my second family member experiencing Hospice of the Valley’s services and the first with Eckstein. Both times were beautiful experiences that really made me feel at peace. The staff from the nurses to the social workers to the volunteers were amazing. I can’t put it into words the attention to detail and the ease at which my family was at. When my time comes, I will welcome it knowing what my family went through with Hospice of the Valley.

My husband Bill Spata battled pancreatic cancer for over 2 years. He was in Hospice of the Valley for only 3 days at home and his last day at the Eckstein Center where he peacefully passed away. The nursing staff and doctors were very compassionate & caring and informed us every step of the way. We celebrated his life with prayer, memories, music & the whole family present to say our final farewell to him before he took his last breath. His passing left us comforted that he was now at Eternal Peace & Rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ & Cancer Free at last!

I can't say enough good things about everyone who works and volunteers at the Eckstein Center. My dad was admitted there late Friday evening, and passed away early Tuesday morning. The care he received and the support we received was amazing. Since I am from Indiana, and I was sleeping at his bedside, what a nice surprise when I was informed I could shower and all the toiletries needed were available. I am a nurse but during this time I was treated as a daughter, as a grieving family member and nobody assumed I new what was going on. They always took the time to explain things and make sure we all understood and didn't have any questions. It is a very warm , friendly and caring place and the smell of freshly baked cookies made you think that you were home. This place was a wonderful place for my dad to spend his final days. God Bless all of those associated with this facility.

Eckstein Center was exceptional in caring for my mom during the last two days of her life. This facility offered everything that was necessary for both my mom and my family during this very difficult time. Chaplain Barry Schwartz called me to ask what spiritual needs my mom had, and spent considerable time with her the day before she passed, reading scripture to her. The nurses and volunteers who worked there were absolutely wonderful in their attention and caring for her. Belinda was so helpful in allowing me to say a few words to my mom over the phone since I was unable to be there, and to keep me updated on my mom's condition. A volunteer by the name of Mary Bunker was incredibly helpful and compassionate to me and my family when my mom finally passed away. We were even able to use Chaplain Barry to conduct my mom's memorial a few weeks later, of which he did an amazing job. Eckstein Center is wonderful, and Hospice of the Valley is a phenomenal organization. I cannot say enough about my experience with both entities. Highly recommend the Eckstein Center, or any of the other HOV hospices in the Phoenix valley area.

I am so blessed that we found this place. After I could no longer manage the terminal restlessness & pain, they found a bed for my dad here and I could turn from care taker to daughter for my father's last few days. They are caring, companionate and great listeners, true angels through such a hard time. The staff is right there when you need them but also gives you time alone to say your goodbyes. Thank you for all that you do, I will remember this forever.

Cannot count the number of times I had to hear my dad moaning in pain in his last days. I thought they were suppose to manage pain here. Another review mentioned inpatient nurses. That was true. Not a great atmosphere.

Extremely disappointing. Some nurses here need to retire. They have no patience and don't want any questions. The woman doctor there is another one who "only speaks to one person." Don't want to name names because probably at one point their heart were into it. Unfortunately had a few older women that should absolutely retire and call it a day. They know who they are. After two days left the place. Ring a bell and you can bust before someone comes in. Ask a question and are told you ask too many questions. Ask to go to the bathroom and need help, "you go too much, use the commode." Just terrible. Stay home for as long as possible and interview for someone to come and help. Just sad! I must add there was a young woman there who worked the night shift who was absolutely wonderful and caring. Until they get these miserable hags out of there, stay home.
