My father went in with the hope of this place to be a safe, positive & empathic environment but the way he was treated by one of the hispanic / spanish speaking employees was awful. He yelled at him for not knowing certain information, spoke to him in a rude manner & made him feel even worse about his situation. No one should be treated the way he was treated.

I did my appointment at Leaven this morning. The case worker thought I had a good chance at getting help. She did say it was a one time thing but gave me other resources to look into as well. They are sending my landlord a paper for them to fill out and send back. I hope to know within a week or so whether I will get the one time help voucher for the rent increase. In the meantime I need to look at the other resources they provided me and get a hold of them for future assistance going forward. I was treated with respect and dignity. It was something that some people said on reviews they did not receive. But who knows what happened in those circumstances.

Amazing! The folks that work here deserve a medal.
I was really in a spot and they came through for me.
I never felt like they were judging me, they just were very sympathetic and caring and wanted to provide me with the best help that they could give me.
They're really amazing and wonderful people and it's a really great organization.

Apparently they only help people with rent who are on a lease. My roommate isn't on the lease and he doesn't have his rent for the month so I suggested he go there for help and they won't help him because he's not on the lease. If I could afford his portion I wouldn't need a roommate! So now because he doesn't have his portion of the rent this became my problem. I don't see why they couldn't just get proof of address for him and a document showing what the rent is at this address and where it's paid. I'm so angry that I have to carry this extra stress because of his bad decisions. Leaven you should help ALL people. Or don't advertise yourself as someone who helps.
