Upon moving in, I immediately had to clean the carpet because it smelled extremely unpleasant, reminiscent of dog vomit. Despite my request for professional carpet cleaning, the housing office denied it, claiming the carpet had already been cleaned and inspected by the manager. Anticipating this response, I took a picture for documentation.

The housing office and the manager stated they would reconsider the carpet cleaning and get back to me within a few days. Predictably, they never did.

While the housing claims to strive for a five-star rating and excellence, their execution falls short. I rate them five stars for non-responsiveness, poor inspection processes, hiring substandard contractors, and overall poor management.

To the housing office and managers: How do you conduct inspections after the contractors have cleaned the house? Why did you never follow up, despite having my contact information and promising to reach out? I called several times after a few days with no response.

The attached picture shows the carpet after I vacuumed just HALF of a single bedroom.

I have very slim hope that the housing will resolve this issue.

Have lived on base here for almost 4 years now so we have had a lot of experience with Balfour Beatty.

The pros - our home has turned out quite good. We have had to put in a lot of maintenance requests to get it that way, but most things in our home work correctly and it has been comfortable. We haven't had the flooding issues or dakrat infestations that others have had to deal with.

The cons - family size is usually how you're assigned a home. If you don't have enough kids you can't get a 3 or 4 bedroom home because there's so many more 2 bedroom homes. As they upgrade the playgrounds in housing they're replacing them with units that are designed for older kids (5+ years old only) which excludes a large portion of the age group that usually utilizes playgrounds. The landscaping company they hire was replaced about a year ago with one that does a significantly lesser job maintaining the grass and removing snow.

Management has been quite bad and the maintenance workers have gone downhill over the past few years. Every couple of months some new decision is made that shows their lack of concern for the people that live in these homes; shortcuts are taken frequently that make management's daily job easier at the expense of hundreds of families.

Unfortunately in Minot there are very few affordable options for family homes in town so many end up here, ourselves being one. Looking forward to the day we can own our own home so we can stop renting from BBC.

I was experiencing issues with my house due to previous residents living in the duplex attached. Chris and Mari were extremely helpful and relocated my family very quickly. They provided a home with the exact layout and accommodations as my previous house, all during the holidays. They were extremely professional and helpful as well as alleviated my stress. Thank you to the management and maintenance teams for all of their help.

The communication skills and attention to detail need work. My husband sent the office the housing application in an email and then stated in his email that he will be out of the office and will no longer has access to his email. The email gave the housing office his personal email and other forms of contacting him if there was anything else we needed to do to enable us to get in the wait list. We heard nothing back, therefore we figured there was nothing left to do. That was not the case, there was more that we needed to turn in. A month later when we arrived at Minot we were still not in the list. When my husband finally got access to his email the housing office emailed back his work email which he had no access to and stated they needed to reach out to his personal email which he provided. Now stuck in a hotel paying out of pocket until we get a house. Negligence and poor attention to detail!!!

Brutally honest review.

The people that work for this company are really good people doing their jobs. However whoever manages/owns/makes the rules on this base are heartless. Whether it’s breed restrictions forcing families to make a tough decision or live far away from where they work, pet limit restrictions (where they heartlessly deny your request), or constant nagging about the housing exterior conditions in insane weather. The company can be extremely hypocritical. They say they want the housing to appear nice and clean, but refuse to fix the major problems and park their garbage all over the base. They will try to charge you for things that were supposed to be replaced as regular maintenance, unless you fight them super hard. The only reason why people decide to live on base is for the convenience, and because you can’t get half the house for the same price off base.

BBC needs a reality check.

Our experience has been wonderful. We had been through the roughest of storms in 10 years and when they could, the snow removal folks would also clear out our driveway (if our vehicles weren't in the way). The plows plowed had plowed us in so we called for help, they promptly cleared the driveway. On the occasion when we needed a repair of utilities or heat, it seemed they were pulling up to our home soon after we hung up the phone. Outstanding Customer service from the entire housing staff and great repairs by the long time workers employed there.
Only good to say about them! We appreciate the human factor they have.

We’ve been living in our home on base for over 5 years. The community is amazing and the staff here is always friendly and quick to offer solutions to any issues we’ve had. My kids love the splash pad and parks that are within walking distance of our home

We had our final out this morning, and I wanted to wait until the entire process was over before posting anything. We worked with Jessica and when she came to do our pre-inspection, she went through the house and told us everything that needed to be done and which cleaners/methods that work best for her and gave us the tip to bring lysol wipes to the final just in case there were spots that need attention (so they don't have to fail/charge us for things that would take 5 seconds...VERY grateful for that little tip). She gave us an estimate for the damages we were responsible for, and how much it would be if we chose the "pay and go". We cleaned the house ourselves. At the final this morning, she let us know she had another appointment in an hour (so we didn't have much extra time to scrub any spots that needed it) then went through the house thoroughly and pointed out spots that needed an wipe down. She took the time to let us wipe down, and we easily passed. She did a great job and was a big help. I have no complaints with the moving out process, it was much easier than anticipated. I never thought I would say this, but good job Balfour Beatty!
