I’d give more stars if I could! BBBS has been great for my little family! Thanks for everything you continue to do for us and the community!!
2025- Adding to my first post from 4 years ago. I have 2 boys both were in the program; now they are 14 and 16 and we’ve recently withdrawn to open up for other families. One big moved away and the other big stepped up for both my boys. My family is biracial and our big is white; be open and flexible for your children. I know we definitely hit the Big Lottery. He has been so amazing for all of us! He comes over for holidays, vacations, house sits and we are now forever family! Truly an amazing program! ❤️

My wife and I have been in the program for about two years and have felt very supported by the program. There are regular check-ins and lots of sponsored events/activities to do with our Littles. It’s a shame there aren’t more volunteers given I’ve seen there can be quite the wait for matches. If you’re considering joining the program, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s a rewarding experience and you may just change a little life and your own!

Applied for my son to get a Big Brother over a year ago and there’s still no match for him. I’m not sure why since my son said during the application process he was open to other races, couples, etc to be his mentor and he is the easiest kid to get along with. Now he’s 14 and will be going to High School next year. Definitely a disappointing experience and I won’t recommend this program to anyone.

I’ve been matched with my Little Brother for a year now. The experience I’ve had with this agency has been great. They’ve helped me find activities for my little and I to do.

I was excited to be a Big. The match seemed good. It didn't work out. I didn't feel supported by BBBS. I had to take all the initiative to connect with my little and her Mom. BBBS should have intervened with the Mom.

My son really needed a big brother, so I applied for him over a year and a half ago. Still nothing, and I keep being told there’s no one available for him. Now he’s 14, in high school, trouble focusing, trouble adapting and struggling. I feel extremely let down and feel extreme sadness for my son who just needed some guidance on his journey.

They are only looking for black men and bilinguals. Color should not matter when it comes to being a mentor. **EDIT** You just reaffirmed what I stated saying you have immediate volunteer opportunities for individuals of color and Spanish-speakers.

What does color of skin and language spoken have to do with being a mentor? Posting this on MLK day, what a shame.
