Steve Bailey at the Anson historical society is a gift for any genealogy or historical person performing research in the area. Steve has a passion for research and helping those who are teaching down ancestors. He is a wealth of knowledge and has the ability to 'retrieve items people would otherwise put in the dumpster' are retain items at the society. Because of his efforts, he has cataloged and documented black cemeteries in Anson county, which would have been lost forever. He has pride in his work and is always willing to share his knowledge. The historical society is truly blessed to have him working for your society. I felt honored to meet him, and it turns out we are distance cousins! Please reach out to him if you are performing family history or other research in the area. The Anson County Historical Society offers a brochure and walking tour of Wadesboro's Downtown Historic District. The Society office and Anson County Historical Museum is the first stop on the tour. The society office offers historical books for sale and others for research. They have many photos, pictures, historical maps, and portraits. Records for researchers and general public view are also available.
