First time donating blood and the experience was very positive. HOWEVER, I was under the belief that I would receive $70 in points for my first visit. When I went to their online store it was only $30.

Update: Contacted support and was told it takes 2 to 3 days for the first time donor bonus points to show up. I wish someone would have said that to me or it was posted online. So I did get additional points. However, I've discovered that the debit visa and MasterCard can only be for purchases. There is no way to transfer the funds directly to your bank through PayPal or venmo. If you need it for grocery stores or shopping gift cards are fine. I wish they had cards for local gas stations.

The ladies here are fantastic. I went to donate for the first time today and because of my long and complicated history of living in different countries I know it wasn’t easy to do my screening but they were so kind and did such a great job to make sure I was eligible and they were also so kind during the process of getting the blood, they had snacks and made sure I was comfortable while Getting the blood, I am also an extremely hard stick and they managed to get it on the first try. I felt very welcome coming and going

I came here on Friday to donate blood but they told me my hemoglobin was at 11.4 so I would have to come back on Sunday to donate blood. I come back today and they tell me that I actually had to to wait 14 days and not just two. Now this place is 20 minutes away from my home, so not only did I waste my time, I also wasted money coming up here. I wish they would hire knowledgeable staff so donors can receive the correct information. I will not be coming back to this place.

I have donated here several times. With the exception of one time, I have found staff to be professional and adept.
My frustration with these guys is that they almost never give the points that they offer when they text you to come in. They send a text and say come in on a certain day and get XX bonus points, but these rarely get put on the account without calling and asking. I don’t give for this reason, but I do think they should honor their offer without having to be prompted. This happens just about every time and makes me wonder if people don’t ask — if someone is skimming these ‘bonus’ points. I just think it’s a little fishy.
***UPDATE: I’ve learned that it takes a while for ‘bonus’ points to show (maybe 2-5 days, depending on if it’s a weekend or holiday), but they do always show now. It’s a process to actually get to gift cards (and get the official coupon/bar code that will work at a business), but they now offer many options from Amazon to various restaurants and retail businesses — including some grocery. You must go to the ‘store’ on the Blood Connection website and use your points for specific dollar amount ‘cards’. Then, you to are sent to a link to choose which business gift cards you want to receive. Once you receive those in your mailbox (my experience has been within a few hours) you then have to follow a link on the individual gift card to get to a printable couple with a barcode that can be used at a store. First time I used this system, I made the mistake of not following the last step and my coupon was worthless because I didn’t have the barcode. Now that I understand the process, it works, it just takes a lot of steps to get there. Read the instructions carefully and follow through until you get through the final step.

I have donated blood on a regular basis since 1978. I have found that I should eat well before I go and plenty of fluids (water or juice) after I come back and I feel fine.
I have been to both the Arden North Carolina and Hendersonville North Carolina donation centers and they are both extremely nice that people are professional and polite.

These girls are amazing! I just got my blood drawn and I almost passed out. But as soon as I did not feel good they were ready. Ice packs, ginger ale, elevated my feet, vomit bag, and smelling salts. 100 out of 100 I would go here again. But I will eat a hour and a half before I do❤️ Thank you lady’s so much

SNAPSHOT = details below - no better place to give the gift of life. Great experience with fun caring people who do a great job!

Exceptionally good operation here. Everybody is very nice and needle sticks are very good. Haley is a riot. Jamie was great as my phlebotomist. Hannah is great in her role as manager.

This is very important work they do here. I would like to see more detailed explanation of how donors can donate. Double-red, plasma-only and whole blood are just some of the options donors have. Understanding the choices has even more impact for O negative and O negative/CMV negative donors.

Jamie did a great job sticking me. Haley is a blast. She is just great. Sit back, relax, give blood and listen to Haley's stand-up routine. Very funny. Hannah is great. Kelsey is someone you want as your neighbor.

To give you an idea of the attention to detail among the staff, I was asked if I wanted anything to drink as I was donating. When I asked for water, Jamie asked me if I wanted it cold or at room temperature. Well done!

I'm a regular blood donor and have donated with TBC for the past 4 years. I've never had a negative experience. Kiko (?) was the phlebotomist who cared for me most recently. She was amazing. She was very pleasant and professional. I hope she's working at my next donation.
