Hmong New Year 2023

Nice to know the NC community owns this plot. Nice. Not the best but it’s fine.

Newly paved too. When we attended the NY in 2023, there was no parking fee. Only entrance fee. Nothing really bad to say. They do need to work on the parking.

I love the emphasis on keeping the Hmong culture alive through providing a gathering place for the New Year. The venue is a bit hard to find. It is next to a cow pasture. I wish the parking area was paved and that there was a huge building or some sort of large shelter. I went on a misty day. It was very muddy and walking was a bit treacherous. All the beautiful people in their ornate, traditional, expensive clothing trying their best to dodge the mud. The food is awesome! There are plenty of vendors selling traditional Hmong items and specialty fresh fruits and veggies. I'm sure this event will grow and the venue will improve in the future. I hope someone can provide funding to improve the facilities. Nyob zoo!

Different vendors for traditional hmong and Laotian clothing. Different types of medicinal herbs, imported medicine/pills, soaps and plenty of jewelry of all kinds. The vendors have a little bit of everything from hmong production films and cds to even things for kpop and anime fans. Toys and plenty more. Several choices of food vendors with the usual papaya salads, kapoon (curry soup w/noodles), grilled meats, hmong sausage, American sausage served along with homemade pepper and sticky rice. Soft drinks, bottled water, energy drinks, fresh pressed sugar cane drinks and bubble teas which varies with different vendors. Few sheriffs and plenty of workers always around so it's relatively safe. Flag football, soccer tournaments, live music and lots more going on. Parking sucks because it's on the county side so obviously unpaved. So if you got bad knees or don't cope well with traffic, arrive earlier so you have higher chances of better parking. Bathrooms are the nasty porter johns located near the creepy woods so good luck anyone who needs to relieve themselves. This year's Admission is $5 and usually if you have to run back to the car, then they'll stamp your hand so you don't have to pay again to go in. No concealed carry gun nor other weapons allowed. You do have to walk through a metal detector and they check your bags in front of you. It's a very quick process. For people wanting to experience something new, this is for you but if you're familiar with going and only going for food like I usually do then it's meh. Standard transactions is cash only so make sure to have some on hand.

They charge so much for 1 person. They're already making money off of the food vendors then they want to OVER charge each person to come in through the doors. Its quite disappointing how they like to ripped off their own kind. We're trying to support you guys yet you guys are ripping everyone off including the vendors etc. Wouldn't recommend

Slightly packed parking, but that's to be expected since a lot of Hmong people are coming to these events.
