Camp Kahdalea has been life-changing in a very positive way for our daughter. She started going to camp a little older than most girls thanks to COVID lock down time, but she has been for the past two summers and at 14, is already saying she wants to be a counselor when she's able to do so. She loves the friends she's made there, and the experiences on and off-site including all sorts of adventures she doesn't have the opportunity to take at home in Florida. We love to hear the camp stories when she comes home, and she continues to talk about her fun times throughout the school year. You cannot go wrong sending your daughter to Camp Kahdalea.

The level of intentional mentoring and growth that happens at these camps is unparalleled. The counselor to camper ratio is kept small to ensure no kid slips through the cracks, no matter how shy or introverted they may be. This is a true wilderness camp experience, with many weekly trips exploring the Blue Ridge mountains - whether through backpacking, paddling, climbing or mountain biking. My kids learned real technical skills and they felt so proud of themselves. They were cheered on at every challenge by the attentive, virtuous counselors whom they hero-worship. I am not kidding, at this point I would maybe sell a kidney before I gave up camp. It is priced for the whole package it offers, and my kids don’t get this kind of growth experience from anything else - not their private schools, not their amazing youth groups, not their baseball teams - truly, this is a rare and incredible adventure to send them on.

I'd recommend this camp for so many reasons! As a previous counselor, I enjoyed the work environment, being surrounded by fellow colleagues striving to be their best as well as leadership teams that I could always trust. Campers are able to flourish in safe and uplifting environments and are challenged physically, socially and spiritually. Camp is an amazing way to explore all of North Carolina's wonders. It also is a safe haven for kids to "have fun!"

We came for Family Camp and it was everything I wanted and more!

1. The surroundings are absolutely stunning and so peaceful, with lush, undefiled natural beauty in abundance.

2. The atmosphere immediately eases you into Mountain vibes. The relentless kindness and goodwill from all the staff is infectious. You can almost feel the love and friendship in the wood planks and the stones.

3. This atmosphere really allowed our kids to relax and stretch out their wings -- they immediately found a little "tribe" to run with and they thoroughly enjoyed the freedom to walk the grounds and find things to do on their own.

4. The day trips knocked our socks off. Honestly, you can't go wrong between going on the various outings or staying at camp!

Overall -- all the thumbs up, highly recommend, will do again!

Fun, Friends, Faith, Love: these are what you or your children will find if you come to this place.

Expect to find Fun like nothing you’ve ever experienced in activities that are both challenging and rewarding.

Expect to find Friends who want to know and understand you, support you in hard times, and help you become the best version of yourself.

Expect to find Faith, a belief in God, through a deep, personal experience with the glories of his creation and a community of counselors giving example of life well-lived.

Expect, finally, to learn what it means to Love and be Loved, to see and be seen, to listen and be listened to: to be happy and to become a bearer of happiness to those around you.

This portrait sounds too good to be true, but after 7 years of being a camper and a counselor, I can say while Camp is not perfect, it strives in every way to become this. And for nearly all of my experience, it achieves it.

My oldest daughter (9) just finished her first sleep-away camp experience with 2 weeks at Kahdalea. She had a wonderful time, got to try lots of new activities we can pursue at home, and is excited for next year. Being shy by nature I was worried she would have trouble finding her place at camp, but she was made welcome from the moment we pulled up. Can't wait for next summer!

Both of my children have gone to this camp and loved it. My daughter Macy went 15 plus years ago and had wonderful summers. My Jacob will be attending his 5th year next summer and continues to love it as well. The Trufants are an amazing family full of love and kindness. They continue to spread their wonderful joy with us and everyone else year after year. I’m extremely grateful for them and feel blessed that have this camp.

Great camp with so many amazing opportunities for our kids both at the camp --lake, archery, high ropes course, climbing wall, etc.--and offsite--mountain hikes, waterfalls, blueberry picking, canoeing, etc. Loved it. Super staff. Top notch counselors. Wonderful faith-based environment.
