More like a resort than a typical summer camp! Great activities: swing, sip line, pool, slides etc. but the real show-stopper was the landscaping. Beautiful flowers and foilage wherever you walked and the mountainous scape that surrounded the premises. It was a joy just to be on the grounds.
Also, new dining hall is massive and well designed.

My daughter has been here to attend YoungLife camp twice, and I couldn't be happier for the experience that she has had in her fellowship with her extended youth group. Her mother and I are extremely happy with the care and wonderful time she has had here, and look forward to our son joining the group and attending in the coming years.

Beautiful spot nestled in NC mountains. Perfect retreat center for high schoolers or adult groups. A variety of activities are available including challenge course, giant swing, zip lines into lake, horseback riding, court sports, hiking or just sitting and taking in all the beauty. Caring staff, great food (family style) and a variety of accommodations. Operated by Young Life.

My grandson went to the camp about 3 weeks ago. He said he thoroughly enjoyed his experience there. I dealt with Andrew here in Jacksonville through Terry Parker High School and he was very nice and professional. I could tell that he really is passionate about the kids and what he does for the YoungLife organization. I would highly recommend that any child go to this camp. The things my grandson experienced there, he would not have been able to experience had he not been a part of this camp.
I read a review before I agreed for my grandson to go of a parent whose daughter experienced gross racism from one of the other campers. I was very concerned and spoke with Andrew about it. He assured me that they do not tolerate such behavior but if it happens, they call the racist child parents and ask them to come pick up their child. My grandson, who is black had no such encounter with racism. I think the reason, you do not see a lot of black kids on the pictures is because a lot of us may not know about the program.
Aside from that the other best part is that they put Christ at the center of all that they do. They make sure the kids have a good time but also that they get acquainted or more acquainted with Jesus which is so very needed these days. Thanks Andrew and the Younglife team for making this possible for my grandson and so many other children.

I ONLY OUT FIVE STARS TO BE AT THE TOP

This has to be one of the worst camps I’ve been to, and I had only been there TWO days. When we got there we could walk around the camp, I was walking alone when there’s two girls walked pasted me looking at me saying, “Ew.” To my face! As a black girl I was shocked, because I was not expecting them to say that to me and be RASICT. One white kid was harassing this asian kid, always rocking his chair to hard almost making him fall off and following him around, and touching his shoulders and hair. People told him to stop, and every time he did it he would shrug his shoulders and walk away, which pissed me off so much. One time we were playing a game in the club room, and one of my black friends were called up there, you had to get a bat from some guy in the crowd. So she tried not to step on people and she said they PUSHED her around. She ended up crying, and having to talk to her counselor. The same night, I was walking to my cabin when I saw a huge crowd of people surrounding boys cabin. So I went over to check it out, and this black girl was cursing out this white boy and trying to punch him. I asked someone what happened, and they said, “That white kid said the n-word!” As a black girl, I don’t think another race, ESPECIALLY WHITE PEOPLE say the n-word, don’t matter if you “got the pass” or not. You have no right to say it. Period. Anyways, it was broken up by a counselor, and the guy got it trouble.

I rate this camp a 0/10. The food was good, and the games were okay. Plus, I love the part when they talk about God. But if you want to go here, or want your kid to go here. You don’t want to go. Let me just say this, the white kids are going to only walk to the white kids and the people of color are only going to talk to the people of color. That’s just the way things go.

I attended Windy Gap as a camper in high school and have attended as an adult guest to visit my son as a Young Life leader, on work crew and on summer staff! Absolutely the best camp and weekend of my life as a camper and returning as an adult, I was still moved and wanted to stay! I love all of it but Club makes the whole thing so wonderful and fun! Truly, it is an amazing experience! I wish all high school kids could have the chance to spend time here!
