This is a county animal shelter that is supported by tax dollars so I was very upset at the treatment that the public is subjected to. Went to drop off a stay cat and was told that the only take in between 1 and 4. 3 whole hours. Drove from burningtown 29 min. They had a parking lot full of volunteers that were dealing with the animals. Had two employees there doing unknown things. One of the volunteers said there were two people in there and would probably take it in. Finally got them to open the door and was told they only open and take in animals between 1 and 4, so I would have to come back. I explained I drove from Burningtown and they just did not care. If someone is there then they need to be open. If they have so many animals they are taking care of them they really need to be open. So if you need to take an animal there good luck.

The woman sheriff that works there is no good. They do not care about animals. They do not care if animals are starving, being beat or tied up outside, exposed to rather and starving for 6 months at a time or running loose. They do not do their job. There is one male sheriff that works with them.that does do his job. The rest of them are no good. I would not take an animal there or pick one up....

We have adopted several house cats and barn cats from MCAS. The staff there has always been so helpful. Izabel was lovely on the phone and made us feel welcome to come in. She allowed us to play with the cats and pick the perfect addition to our family. Stephanie was also very knowledgeable about keeping barn cats safe and secure. We will be back.

We live in Jackson County, so have to drive the extra 30 minutes to this rescue service, and 4 years ago had an amazing experience here. It was small, not fancy, and the staff were kind and helpful. Yesterday, after unfortunately losing one of our dogs, a few weeks ago, this was one of our first stops to find a new best friend. We called to find the hours, and were told they were open at 1:00PM. We arrived at 1:30, to find a woman from the front desk waving us down. They were short-staffed that day, she said, so opening at 2:00. No problem, we said, and we waited in the car. At 2:00, the actual person in charge saw us, took pity on us, and told us the place was actually closed for the day, no exceptions. He did not acknowledge the existence of the woman we spoke to. He was VERY busy, but when he saw I was upset, he offered to let us in for a few minutes. We declined, and thanked him, but won’t be back again. I thank this man for his kindness. I don’t know the name of either person, but the lady should have notified us. The place presented as inept, unprepared, and completely lacking in communication. This is a rural area, and I appreciate people’s service for animals in such an underserved district. But I did not find this acceptable.

The staff is just wonderful. Choosing a rescue dog is hard because they all want to go home with you. I chose a beautiful Pit Bull mix named Blade. He is so adorable and a fast learner. I will return for the next pup.
