Great place for homeless to get out of the weather for a couple of hours threw out the day. When the salvation army requires you to leave their facilities from 6am-4pm this is a place you can go but theyre only open from 9am-2pm and till 3pm threw the winter months. When you first go in your asked to sign in, at that time if you need to take a shower you'll tell them, they will give you a time for you to be ready and at the facility, you can also ask for cloths and blankets, tents, shoes, any thing you may need if they have it they will give it to you. They also have snacks for breakfast along with freshly made coffee, and corner table delivers lunch every day at 12. This is a great place if you have anything to donate then please do they take cloths, tents, shoes, blankets, book bags and food donations as well. Oh and if you need to wash cloths just ask as their is a list of the day that you'll be out on. On Tuesday and Thursday there is a social worker who comes in and helps you with getting Medicaid food stamps, housing, jobs, and if you need transportation they give bus tickets out as well.

I've been coming here close to 6 months since staying at salvation army Pastor John and Larry are two of the best spiritual leaders ull ever meet they really care and do everything they to guide u and help u as u need. Brad Donna Libby Robert Tony all are awesome staff. I highly recommend anyone in Conover and hickory area that needs help spiritually or physically to visit. God bless

I’ve been trying to get help with a gas voucher. I just moved in the area, and needed help getting through until payday due to all of my coins went to my
New place. I called, and they say the pastor is in come on down. I get there, and he’s not there. This has happened 3 times now. (I explained to them I DONT HAVE GAS TO KEEP RUNNING BACK AND FORTH) Then one of the volunteers say “Oh. I gave him your name and number.” Which I NEVER received a call from. I have just given up on trying to get help. Mind you, they are the only place around the area to help with gas at the moment. Also while I was there trying to catch the pastor, I heard one of the volunteers speaking to the people there VERY VERY NASTY!!! It was so bad I spoke up on their behalf. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE MAY BE HOMELESS OR GOING THROUGH A ROUGH TIME IN THEIR LIVES, DO NOT MEAN YOU CAN TREAT THEM ANY KIND OF WAY. THEY ARE STILL HUMAN BEINGS AT THE END OF THE DAY. Pastor Larry is his name and he is NEVER THERE TO HELP!!! Pastor “John” or “James” (can’t think of his name) he’s there when he say he’ll be there and gave me a call back to come and meet him. To the volunteers…. If you can’t deal with people, you may need to work with animals, or the dead. PERIOD!!!!!

This place is awesome, they've gave me free food, and a gas voucher (the gas voucher is rare) the people are very warm and inviting and not make you feel ashamed about being hungry and asking for help. They're also a nice ear to listen to you too.
Great people. Great establishment. Highly recommend.

This place and PastorJohn are quite awesome. I pray for his ministry, his family and his church are Blessed in many fabulous ways so they may reach the ones who truly want a change in their lives.
God knows each one of us already, just the way we are. He invites to to come and give Pastor John a REAL chance to help change your current situation; just the way you are.
Obviously, respect to Pastor, his volunteers and the ones there trying is expected so please, please don't get put out of shape; wouldn't you do that very least for some family member you love? Pastor John, volunteers, Jesus and Holy Spirit want you here, TO HELP YOU. Show some respect. Don't come on property intoxicated, high or in a bullying/fighting type of attitude.
Ask yourself: if this place wasn't open to help YOU to wash clothes, ask for prayer, a bag of groceries, use of internet/PC for ALMOST ANYTHING.
GIVE WHAT YOU WANT TO ALSO RECEIVE. BE HUMBLE

I'm only one who bring staples non-perishable foods. I will try and take pics next time there.

Never having been homeless I had no idea what to expect. The people here go above and beyond to help and get what you need. I feel confident in telling others to come here
