Dan opperman needs his job taken. The way he runs the softball league now is absolute garbage. To turn away 2 teams (1 coed, and 1 mens) because of a couple hours missed in registration time, that he never communicated to players. We called him multiple times the morning of registration with no returned phone call until after his made up 12pm deadline. We were working out if we had a sponsor or not, and were still willing to pay with out one all of this he had been made well aware of. These teams have been out there for at least 4 years (that's 3 seasons a year). Yes, we go undefeated every year and win championships in both men's, and coed. Hmm...I wonder why he made up how he can't change a schedule that isn't even finalized yet. He knew these teams were going to play and still did not reach out to us once and say hey registration by this time on 7.15.19. He said we had to have it in by Monday never specified by 12 on Monday. We had been in contact with him everyday the week prior and he was well aware we were going to play. I had no idea Napa Rec was doing so well they were okay with turning away $1000 between the two teams for registration. We have no where else to play now. So thank you Dan Opperman you used to be so cool, guess everybody changes huh?

They were very nice at the office , but the JFK softball fields need some SERIOUS WORK!!! The guys who play out there have the fee raised pretty much every year to a ridiculous price that is much higher than Vacaville, Fairfield, AND Vallejo...and their fields are WAY more cared for & they usually have two WELL TRAINED umpires. (BJ & Josh are the only two umps that know what theyre doing. They need to train the new umpsbetterand make SURE they know the different rules for the different fields. It really does matter) The scoreboards have so many bulbs out that it's hard to tell the score most of the time. Field #2: infield is gonna get someone seriously injured one of these days; grounders to shortstop very often have a crazy big bounce that pops the ball right up to face level. It's great for the team hitting, but an infielder is gonna get their face destroyed, mark my words. And finally, the skate park. Most of the kids out there aren't a problem, but there are a few that are just OFF THE HOOK bad kids. The parking lot has burn out marks from their "play time in their cars; they've come very close to hitting kids walking with their parents back to the lot from the motocross area; they've also come CVSclise to hitting parked cars & passing vehicles (me) with their reckless driving. Granted, the police are on it now with a regular patrol and that's really greatly appreciated, but when I went to the Parks & Rec office, they handed me off to the police like it wasn't something they needed to deal with. Just a bit disappointing (but kind of expected, having worked for the City of Napa before. They're always handing something off to someone else it's never their fault.) They should have thought ahead about the kinds of kids that place would attract & installed security cameras out there.
I lived on Brown St near the old skate park & it's the same as it was there: good kids til dusk, then the older kids who can drive on their own & don't need to rely on the bus come out. When I confronted the "reckless drivers" one night, along with a group of parents & softball players, they just flipped us off & cussed us out. It's a damn shame.
Okay. Rant done.
