Couple of rude folks there playing security. However I dismissed it as they were having a bad day and moved in. Lunch was always great. The clothes closet guy is always cheery and kind. Check your bags in before entering the cafe. The restrooms are not pretty and need some attention really bad but there's always bread to take home with you wherever you go at night. Thank you good news where would this city be without you?

Horrible place wouldn't go back if it was the last place there was. My medine was stolen. I was kicked out the same day for someone yelling at me. Then they tried to blame me. Staff followed people off property then assaulted them. Really rotten staff.

Are staying so far it's been enjoyable, what experience for the most part specially pointing out Sam, Rachel, Jim and any other man in the office also some other ones (in the Big House of Hope and some other staff) including the volunteers is there five stars for their understanding. Literally blessing during ruthless dirty disgusting experience of life. But it's the war of the worlds these days is the breadth of fresh air for pleasant people that are like that.

The Thanksgiving banquet was wonderful and it was nice to see Shasta County Sheriff's giving back to the community by serving food and not warrants LOL!

They will ban you for minor infractions. My son was banned for life for "inappropriate dancing" in the mens' dorm. He was twerking. A 21 year old kid goofing around. My son doesn't use drugs. He works whenever he can find work. He's autistic and has severe Childhood PTSD. I am a mental health advocate in the community. I've seen people treated horribly unless they adopt the Mission's version of Evangelical Christianity. The Mission also has connections to Bethel. There are many Bethel volunteers & Chris Valloton gives sermons there. Tragically this is the only shelter in Redding.

New Life Recovery~~
THE MEN’S PROGRAM AT THE MISSION IS, IN ITS OWN RIGHT, IT’S OWN ENTITY. Complete on its own. It is a completely different building.
The homeless shelter helps many, I’m so very appreciative of the Good News Rescue Mission
💚 Their recovery program is la lifesaver!’The love and faith, the structure and care is beyond expectation. I have someone super close to me in the program, and I can guarantee he would no longer be alive or close to it if this program didn’t exist. So many aren’t aware this program is offered for those wanting sobriety💚I can attest to the effectiveness of this facility is spotless. It has such a homey feel to their quarters. Their living areas are indicative of their structure, their respectfulness, their total self, beingj I’ll clean and sober, actually living life 💚💚
I absolutely admire their attentiveness to detail and the staffs ability to make these men feel at home and to show them they are WORTHY OF THE LOVE THAT IS SHOWN THROUGH FAITH AND ACCEPTANCE 💚💚

While this organization's original intent was good and meant to help the homeless in being safe and off the streets, it has become cruel and demeaning to many. Harassment of select people has become the common practice for those already down. They throw helpless people off property for petty mistakes, with little if any practice to the teachings of Christ. I was taught at an early age that Jesus's teachings I
Included compassion, forgiveness and kindness. This organization has fallen far from those teachings and into a constant practice of cruelty and hatefulness. Not all staff are this way. The kind ones who can balance rules and regulations while being civil and RESPECTFUL sorely lack in good people skills but abuse and self power. They have no problem throwing people off property into more unsafe situations which is not Christian. They don't bat an eye at throwing men or women into the night even in bad weather regardless of age or health conditions. I think they rather enjoy it. Threats and fear are the rule of any day. Elder abuse is no problem for them at all. While my work history and ethics has taught me that rules can be accomplished with respect and civility, threats are not necessary. We are constantly reminded of lectured to be kind to one another as it should be. However, this organization runs on fear. They take advantage of the homeless by demeaning them with little respect, that word they demand but rarely return in kind. Rules can be communicated without fear. Try it people. It can be done.
