Historically, it is an important community resource to help save forests, restore waterways, and reduce toxins in our environment. Unfortunately, it has been captured by corporate (Big Tech and Big Real Estate) and government grant funding. They have pivoted away from environmental issues and towards social justice issues. This would be a fine side effort, but they are advocating for paving over open space, and maxing out human populations in the lowest elevations of the Humboldt Bay area by building high rise income properties in sea level rise areas.

Their Executive Director trolls local neighborhood groups on social media that are organizing to save their trail from a massive new road project through open space with amphibian and avian habitat. EPIC supports this new arterial road. He trolls neighborhood businesses that are facing being gentrified out of town for EPIC-supported residential towers to provide income properties to Real Estate Investment Trusts. When he gets called out for his trolling on social media by community members, he blocks them.

C'mon, EPIC. Fight big corporations, not the working class community members.

The have been working to protect northern California forests for many decades. They are a also a great source of information about environmental issues as pertains to logging in California and Oregon forests.
