If I could give this memory care facility 0 stars, I would. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice assisted living place with nice apartments and common areas. However, the memory care facility deserves 0 stars. My father who suffers from Alzheimer's entered the facility in early November. The staff at the memory care unit failed to give him his medications for 24 hours. After being without his meds, he had a psych episode and was taken to the hospital where he spent 3 weeks recovering from this experience. He is currently well taken care of in a residential care facility. The Ivy Park memory care unit is understaffed and lacks experienced caregivers. It recently changed ownership (July 2023) and the care is not on par with other facilities. Do your due diligence if you are considering Ivy Park for your loved ones suffering from dementia and don't be dazzled by nice facilities and good food. What patients with dementia need most is good experienced staff and Ivy Park doesn't have it.

My uncle lives at Sunrise of Monterey and he loves it there! The environment really feels like home to him, and the staff are amazing. They really have it together when it comes to his care needs, and they go out of their way to keep me updated both about my uncle and about the community as a whole. One other thing that sets them apart is that they actually deliver on the promise to have regular excursions and activities. The initial paperwork and move in process was very easy and they again went out of their way to take care of everything. It demonstrated right from the start that they are organized and professional, and that professionalism continues daily. I have a lot of confidence and peace of mind with the staff at Sunrise, and they are great option for anyone considering assisted living in the Monterey area.

Before coming to Sunrise Senior Living, I had lived at two other assisted living facilities in the area which, while satisfactory, did not provide the medical care and emotional well-being of Sunrise.
As a longtime officer in the U.S. Army, with two tours in Vietnam, I can truly state that I have been more content and happy here at Sunrise than at any other time in my life.
The medical condition of every resident at Sunrise is a top priority for the staff. All medications are professionally ordered, sorted and administered with utmost care.
The food at Sunrise is consistently excellent, and snacks are readily available. The dining room rivals many of the finest restaurants which I have frequented in Carmel-by-the Sea.
Sunrise offers numerous excursions to local shopping centers, so there is no need for me to ask family or friends to bring me a toothbrush or other necessities.
There are also many scenic trips by bus to Big Sur and Carmel and walking tours along the coastline. Other recreation includes Spanish language classes, ballroom dancing, board games, exercise instructions and birthday celebrations.
In addition, there are regular musical performances by local artists, nightly movies and religious services. None of the other two facilities where I lived provided such a wealth of activities. Because of these many opportunities my sense of well being and morale have significantly improved.
Any potential or new residents at Sunrise will be immediately welcomed, cared for, and made to feel at home. All the staff and caregivers are highly professional, and they are prepared to give each of us excellent care.

I keep being impressed with the experience at Sunrise. We needed to move our dad in very suddenly and the staff from initial inquiries onward kept raising the bar and surpassing it. The staff genuinely care about their clients and go above and beyond. We were provided with contact information for hospice, and the hospice nurse and team coordinate with the Sunrise team, which is such a relief with all the other moving parts we’re currently juggling. Brandy helped us get started and was so communicative, patient, and prepared. We really had no idea what we were doing and this transition was very sudden, and Brandy made sure it was a soft landing. I’m so grateful for the organization, care, communication, integrity, and attention to detail which is so clearly part of every moment.

Our Aunt Claire has been a resident of the Sunrise of Monterey community for almost five years. We have been very pleased with her care there and we’re grateful for her kind, caring, and competent staff. Sunrise is not just a “facility”, it is a place of home and family.

Sunrise of Monterey has been a huge blessing for our family. My mom has needed memory care for a while now. The Sunrise staff, and particularly Darlene, takes care of her as if she is simply part of their family. This is how the Sunrise staff treats the residents - with genuine care. Then, after living alone for too long, my Dad moved in as a regular resident. He literally seems to have gained years on his life, smiling and laughing a lot more and enjoying the activities, movement classes, and other residents and especially the staff. We feel extremely lucky and grateful that Sunrise of Monterey exists and that the staff are so attentive and caring for our immediate family.

As a member of this community I am familiar with many assisted living facilities and Sunrise of Monterey is one I highly recommend to family and friends. The staff are remarkable and they go above and beyond to make residents feels at home, you can rely on the nursing team along side their patient coordinators to be very involved and care for you’re loved ones!

My mom was at Sunrise of Monterey for two years in the memory care neighborhood. The small group setting worked well for her. The food was very good, and the care was excellent All the staff are capable and a few are absolute gems. I have fond memories of enjoying the live music performances at Sunrise with Mom.
