Housing for individuals on the peninsula with intellectual disabilities is in very short supply. Many of these individuals are not able to create their own community - they need parents and loved ones to help do that. The Big Wave Project is committed to developing a loving community where individuals with disabilities can live their best lives and have a home and community for their entire life, even after their parents and loved ones are gone. It has my support!!

The central feature of Big Wave is community. It will provide a safe home where residents can thrive and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow residents. Although construction is still underway, our future residents are already benefiting from a shared purpose and many and varied community events. We are grateful to have found Big Wave!

So they want $550,000 for the opportunity to pay $2000-2,500 per month. This is a country club structured as a nonprofit to dodge taxes and they're trying to get credit for being some big, benevolent thing. Pretty gross

I also suggest you look into how many of the positive reviews are from people affiliated with the project ๐Ÿ‘€

Apologies for thinking disabled people without deep pockets need more help than people who can afford to live here.

As the parent of a special needs adult child Big Wave Project is the answer to a dream for our family and many like us who've worried, "What will happen to my child when I'm gone?". Big Wave is an opportunity for our special children to have their own community and a forever home right here in the Bay Area, a full life that will survive our children's biological family. This is something we prayed for but never found until now. A world of thanks to the parents who persevered for 20+ years to get this project built!
