Book your reservation early! So many people show up to Mesa Verde not realizing that if you want to go on one of the guided tours of the ruins you need to book in advance of your trip, they get sold out. The park rangers that do the tours are very much into being there and it comes across in the tours. Very informative and interesting to see how the ancient native Americans lived. The guides are helpful and nice and also enthusiastic to answer any questions and share their knowledge. The hike was fun with ladders to climb and tunnels to crawl through. You cannot see the ruins from the parking lot because they are directly below but you can see them from a view point at the next stop up the road after a short hike to the view point. I highly recommend this tour.

With it being Labor Day weekend, we could not get tickets for Saturday or Sunday, but we were able to get a ticket for the balcony house tour on Friday.
I cannot say enough great things about the Ranger, Shanon.
We have been traveling for six months in our RV, and have attended many things that were guided. And without a doubt, Shanon was the most entertaining, knowledgeable, guide we have experienced. He was funny, he was patient, he kept everybody involved from the oldest to the youngest.
Absolutely the best part of our Mesa Verde vacation. My husband is 6 foot two approximately 210 pounds and had no problem crawling through the tunnel. I am only 4 foot nine, and I was able to do all of the ladders and steps.
We booked the National Park Service, this was a very affordable and worthwhile tour!!!

Not for those afraid of heights and small spaces! Unless you are like me and like to conquer your fears for the experience. I am terrified of heights. I pushed through and really had such an amazing experience! I recommend doing this at least once! Dont recommend it for small children as you will have to carry on your back if they can't climb up on their own. Overall, I loved the experience.

Astonishing! You can feel the history and spirituality of this incredible site. It’s mind blowing looking around at the structures and imagining people creating it and living daily life here.

Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the site and the culture of the Pueblo people. Between Balcony House and Cliff Palace, this is my favorite!

Beautiful and great tour (you must have a tour to go inside). However, if there are Cliff Palace tour tickets available, I'd pick that one first. We did both in one day, so we were happy.

We only stood above Balcony House (instead of going on the tour) because we have little kids. This is one of the harder tours, according to their website. Little kids might struggle. There are small spaces and a lot of climbing, ladders and such. But it looks amazing and I wish we could have! All the sights in Mesa Verde are with seeing!

We did not get tickets in time for the Cliff Palace, but we were able to get the Balcony house. I am so happy we did because this tour was amazing. It starts off with a pretty trail and then you get to the fun stuff. 32’ ladders, tunnels, more ladders and steps carved into the cliff side rock to exit were amazing. My kids will always remember this one. Our Park Ranger was Tony and he was so informative and fun to listen to. He really cares about what he is doing.

Cool place. Fun adventure. Wish it was going in and out, but the tour guid spent WAY too long (45 minutes) talking about corn and the history of corn and how it’s grown and used. My group of 9 was so bored!
