I love this place. I'd volunteer if I lived closer. The cats have a giant indoor/outdoor (yet enclosed) space, enough room to be themselves - and to play or socialize or stay to themselves, and it doesn't smell like a litter box. Mary Dee is completely devoted to the animals in her care and gives you all the time in the world to hang out and see if you connect with a special cat. I was looking for a Ragdoll and the only reason I didn't take home the gorgeous guy there was that he looked *too much* like my previous cat.

I have been to this rescue and must disagree with any negative postings. The place is huge, with an inside area full of cat condos and other beds, an outside fenced and netted yard with plenty of activities for the cats, "water features", plenty of food. The cats are clearly healthy and happy, and very friendly and affectionate. I adopted two cats, and they are just the best kitties! I spent hours with them all, trying to decide, and was encouraged to spend as much time as I wanted.

We adopted our cat, Dandy, over a year ago from Spunky's Rescue Ranch. Other than the longish drive from our home, the experience was perfect. I initially had my heart set on a lovely white cat I had seen on Petfinder. Sadly, we didn't 'click' and Mary Deewas very honest about telling me that Odin (the cat) was a bit jealous about sharing lap time. We have a 22 year old spoiled (hey, he's 22, he deserves it!) cat that likes his lap time, so jealousy would not work. So we met all the other cats. We were there for hours and finally decided on our Dandy ... all the way from Egypt! I almost felt guilty taking him away from such a lovely setting. The indoor/outdoor set up is cozy, clean and the garden is lovely. Dandy fit right into our life and home and has been a healthy, happy boy from Day 1.

This is the most wonderful rescue. MaryDee's love for her cats and horses are obvious. The cats have inside and outside safe enclosures. And who wouldn't want to reside in Malibu while waiting for that forever home.

Wendell Phillips, the man running the ranch understands little about the harmony of nature. In 2016 after obtaining a permit, Wendell Phillips shot a mountain lion known as p45. Thankfully only grazing the animal. He has improper pens for his animals protection and blames the laws of nature for his own mishaps. Mountain lions have been gracing Southern California long before humans. We need to understand how to live with nature. Not wave a gun at it.
