Children's Corner Preschool in Los Altos was such a positive experience for our grandson, who spent 2023-24 in the 3-year-old room as a half-day student. Since my husband and I cared for him M-F while his parents worked, it gave him the chance to have his first experience with other children in a safe, nurturing and very inviting space. This preschool offers exceptional quality materials and opportunities for self-directed play. Toys and activities are rotated daily and promote development of fine motor skills through painting, drawing, cutting and pasting. The doors swing open for outdoor play mid-morning, or your child may stay inside and extend his exploration with puzzles, blocks,
imaginary play in the kitchen or dress-up corner. Mornings are rounded out with healthy snacks, small group activities including
story-time, singing, yoga, or familiar games that promote learning to follow directions. I can't thank the staff enough for their creativity and for creating such a clean, healthy environment. Hands are washed several times a day; large fans help ventilate the rooms; tables are sanitized and floors are swept after meals. You'll receive a monthly newsletter highlighting each rooms' activities with photos of the children at play. CCP also offers seasonal opportunities for you to meet other parents and their children. As a former clinical child psychologist, Children's Corner exceeded my expectations as a play based preschool and I am most grateful to them for nurturing our grandson this year.

My son just graduated from Children's Corner after almost 3 amazing years and my youngest is about to start. We were very fortunate to find the school. After touring and researching many schools in the area, we instantly knew it was the right school when we went for a visit. The school is very warm and puts a lot of focus on the children's emotional well being. The teachers are amazing and many have been around for years. The school is play based and they always have awesome, inviting activities for the kids every morning. My son blossomed at the school and we are excited to go through the process again with our youngest.

I feel so fortunate that I stumbled upon this amazing, nurturing, warm preschool for my two kids. The teachers are fantastic and many of them have been there for many years, which I think says a lot about the school. Children's Corner's play-based philosophy and programs really let my kids explore and develop their own interests and personalities, while establishing a strong foundation for their education. I also really appreciated that the programs ran year-round, which was really helpful for working parents.

We love Children's Corner's low student-teacher ratios and dedicated teachers, many of whom have been teaching there for 10-20 years. There is a lot of thought put into the curriculum, but it is presented through play to the kids with rotating activities at tables, lots of toys (with specific developmental goals in mind), and plenty of outdoor play time. My youngest is enthusiastic about going to school and my oldest was well prepared for an academically rigorous elementary school.

My son has been at Children's Corner for just over a year now. Both he and I absolutely love it! I really can't say enough great things about the staff, the program, and the welcoming spaces they have created. The overall philosophy incorporates an up-to-date understanding of early childhood development with a deeply nurturing environment, resulting in inviting classrooms that provide an appropriate level of stimulation for each age group. The teachers generally have excellent credentials, but more important, every one of them seems genuinely happy helping the children learn how to become better, more independent individuals. I am so pleased that we landed here; it will be hard to leave at the end of the year.

Children's corner is a wonderful preschool. The teachers here make the school. They are all exceptional. My daughter started in the two year old room and spent 3 excellent years here. The curriculum is a good balance of play based with structured learning especially in the PRE-K room (literacy, science, math, and Spanish). The teachers pay great attention to social development as well, helping kids develop friendship and navigate conflicts.

There are several family events throughout the year to bring the parents together. We especially loved pizza in the park and the annual spring concert.

The school helped my daughter blossom into a independent and confident girl and instill in her a real love of learning. She is now a well-adjusted and well-prepared kindergartener.

A close friend highly recommended Children's Corner when it came time for us to enroll our son in preschool. We have loved having our sons attend preschool first at the old location and now at the new location. The teachers are knowledgable and supportive. They really emphasize social-emotional learning, teaching kids empathy and that they are part of a community. Even though it is a play-based curriculum, there are some elements in the pre-K room that prepare your child for kindergarten, including zoo-phonics and table time. They have fostered my older son's curiosity so that he does not see learning as a chore but views school with excitement, always eager to go and never wanting to leave. The young explorers program in the afternoon was one of his favorite things. They had blocks dedicated to different cultures, science, environmental science, space camp, dinosaur camp and so much more. It's such a caring environment where every teacher interacts with and knows your kids. They embrace each child as an individual and never push an agenda (such as potty training) that may be commonly perceived as normal.

Our son is about to finish 2 amazing years at Children’s Corner. To start preschool during the pandemic could have been nerve-wracking, but everyone at Children’s Corner is so warm, thoughtful, and clearly focused on the well-being and growth of each child, it made the transition extremely easy. The teachers are all wonderful and meet each child where she/he is, helping them navigate these years. I loved that they didn’t have rules around whether kids did or didn’t have to nap, when kids needed to be potty trained - the school understands that each child is unique and on his or her own timeline - and want to support each child and family in the best way possible. I’m confident in my son’s ability to navigate TK in the fall thanks to this wonderful school. Thank you Children’s Corner for being such a positive and formative experience for our pre-schooler and our family!
