Great homily with personal perspective! The priest gave perspective on parishioners present and how God is working in their lives. It made the Mass and Holy Eucharist more powerful.

This parish church is very welcoming. They try their best to include all the ethnic communities in their ministry. They just celebrated their 75th anniversary and now have funds to paint the outside. The pastor, Fr. O'Brien, is doing his best to involve all stakeholders and make the church and excellent elementary school the best they can be.

Beautiful and welcoming Catholic church in Long Beach. Very well located for visitors. I was impressed by all the safety measures they took to make a very safe Mass during COVID, they were really went above and beyond and should be regarded as a gold standard. And the Mass was beautiful!

I was blessed , and my prayers were answered by working, interacting, music, with our future leaders, Gods children. At summer camp this summer 2018. It has been a Blessing experience for me. God has opened a path for me on this journey that I've been lead to. My heart has mended. Praise God, Amen

A great place to receive the Holy Eucharist with a welcoming church community. Their Filipino and Our Lady of Guadalupe Ministries did a great job celebrating their feast days during December. All Are Welcome

Fr. Gerard, the parish priest administrator is very energetic, full of life, ideas, passionate, as well as compassionate, totally inspiring us to "just do it" for the good of ourselves and more so for our neighbors

The city of Long Beach did a lot of growing in the post war era. Six new Catholic churches were added the city, one was Our Lady of Refuge which was founded on May 10th, 1948. Over the past 60 years it's been fairly consistent in size with roughly 1700 families who attend the church, this is by no means a small church. It has a private Catholic Elementary School on the grounds as well. Looking at the church for an araiel persepctive you can see that it's actually in the shape of a cross. The only thing a bit more unusual is the placement of the church between the streets of Stearns and East Los Coyotes. The two streets turn the lot the church sits on into a V. The normal thing to do is place the front of the church on one of the streets. Our Lady of Refuge front faces the bottom corner of the V making a strong visual impression. It's bold and ambitious and I just love it! There is also a third street close by (Clark Ave) where you could get a good view of the church as you drive by. What's neat about this church is that after driving by it the interesting placement of the church gets your attention.
